Y/n's POV
I opened the door to my apartment, letting both men into my home as I rushed to take off my shoes, put on slippers and begin working on dinner. I was so focused on preparing everything, that my soul nearly left my body when I caught sight of blonde hair only a breath away from me. I screeched before resting my hand over my heart as I stared at a very shocked Mikey. "Jiro, there are a lot of places you can stand, but..."
"I scare you, right?" His eyes became hard to read but the question is what threw me off guard. He turned to walk away, but I grabbed his forearm without a second thought. He stood still but didn't turn around. "It's okay. I get it."
An unfamiliar feeling filled my heart.
I know something is wrong, but I don't understand what it could be.
"Jiro, I don't think you realize that you were standing super close to a super freaking awkward girl who not only wasn't aware of it but also isn't used to it either. You don't and never could scare me. Okay? I promise." He turned to face me with a soft smile and nodded. My concern drifted away as I smiled in return. "Just make a noise or something if you're going to pop up behind me like that." I added with a soft giggle.
An annoyed scoff broke through the moment as Baji pushed his chair back and made his way over to us. "The least you could do if you're gonna be that close is offer to help." Baji spoke calmly as he came and rolled his sleeves up to his elbows. I watched first in confusion and then awe when he didn't even ask but began moving with me to finish making dinner. I did my best to teach Mikey how to help, but I could tell he was frustrated. I smiled softly at him. "Well, you tried anyway, so I still have a treat for you!"
Baji spoke up once again as Mikey walked over to sit on the couch like a kicked dog. "I'll let you finish it up because I like the way you do it better." He smiled at me with teeth poking out and I laughed at his compliment.
"My cooking is not that good but thank you anyway! Just a few more minutes and it'll be done." I finished up and brought everything to sit on the living room table, being careful to hide my treat for Mikey. A thought occurred to me as I sat between the two in front of my laptop.
Since I didn't get to watch anything at Akkun's, I'll put on a movie for us here! I wonder what they would be interested in. I have some action movies!
"Hey, do you guys want to watch something?" My head tilted in confusion when a noticeable smirk appeared on both of their faces for a second before disappearing. I decided against asking that question for another one. "What kind of movie do you guys want to watch?"
I have live action Kingdom, Demon Slayer, and then a ton of romance movies. They'd never want to watch those though.
Their simultaneous response to my question was a nonchalant "romance", before turning to one another and looking away with irritation. I crossed my arms. "What's wrong with you both now? You were fine but that look wasn't a friendly one!"
"Baji is hogging your attention."
"Mikey is acting like a dumbass."
Before I realized it, they began a full-on brawl in my living room. "Wait, you guys!" I went to try to stop them and was bumped hard enough to fall back into the wall. It didn't hurt but I felt tears come to my eyes regardless, like it was something deeper.
It finally came to my attention as I sat on the floor, unwilling to take their help, that someone made their presence known at the door. I wiped my tears and got up to answer the door without saying anything. When I opened the door, I couldn't help but smile. "Takuya, what are you doing here?"
I hope he can't tell I was crying. He's looking at me funny. Why am I crying?!?!
"You forgot this." He put a phone in my hand and I gasped.
"How did I forget my phone!?" Overwhelmed with gratitude, I pulled him into a hug as I repeated thank you. "I'm so sorry! It must've been a huge inconvenience having to bring me this." I pulled away and looked at my phone again only to realize that my lock screen had changed. I looked up at Takuya and couldn't help but laugh. "This is the best picture ever! I'll treasure it always!"
"You mean it?" Yamagishi poked his head around the corner, scaring me half to death. The air went cold again and I knew why. I stood my ground. "Of course, I mean! Unfortunately, I really need to get some sleep." I turned toward a solemn Baji and Mikey. "I'll see you both later." I moved out of the way so they could walk out and watched them fade off. I sighed.
"My queen, were you crying?" I looked up with shock and could've kicked myself as their faces went from worry to anger. "I'm okay! I just..." I tried to sort my thoughts but failed. "I need to go to bed now." As I said my goodbyes, Takuya embraced me once more, keeping me close as he spoke softly.
"We put our numbers in your phone. If you need me, I swear I'll be here." When he was gone, I decided to clean the next day.
How do I explain that I feel like I'm causing more problems than before but there's never been a before?
