Y/n's POV
Grandpa was so kind to invite me over while I was so down on myself. I bet his grandsons are so cute!
I walked to the front door, moving the satchel filled with different foods I had prepared to one arm so I could knock. As the door swung open, my smile went from one to politeness to shocked joy. "Mikey!"
His expression was unreadable and I suddenly felt insecure again. "Um...I was invited by..."
"Y/n!" Grandpa poked his head from around the corner, giving Mikey a swift smack on the back of his head before smiling at me. "Please forgive my doofus grandson and come right in!"
I smiled politely but as I walked into their home, a realization came over me. "Wait, you said your grandsons, so if Mikey is your grandson, doesn't that mean...?" My words turned to nothing but air at the sight of Izana and then Shinichiro. I looked at all three men before turning to Grandpa Sano with confusion.
There's no way he knew that, right?
As doubt filled my mind, he quickly scolded the Sano men. "Aren't you going to help her? Her hands are full!" Before I could try to argue, Shinichiro grabbed the bigger bag and Izana grabbed the smaller one with the drinks. "Mikey, you...!!!" Before Grandpa Sano could finish his sentence, Mikey lunged, picked me up bridal style and ran out the door.
I squealed into his chest at the sudden move, gripping his shirt like my life depended on it. When he finally froze in his steps, he plopped to the ground with me in tow like a sack of potatoes. This felt so weird, I couldn't help but start laughing. He stared at me for a moment before he started laughing with me.
As we calmed down, I focused on his now red face staring back at me. I brought a finger up and poked him in the cheek playfully. "I'm glad you're laughing with me. I thought you were mad at me and you weren't going to talk to me anymore. I know I'm not the best, but I still hope you'll trust me one day." I spoke softly.
Mikey pressed his forehead to mine with his eyes closed. "I'm afraid." He whispered.
"Why? What's wrong?" Panic weaved through my tone but he didn't open his eyes.
"I'm afraid I'll lose you again."
Again?
He feels it too....but there's something more to this....something he won't tell me.
"Mikey, did I die before?" He froze and I quickly brought my hands to his cheeks, rubbing small circles on them with a soft smile. "I keep feeling like everyone is so familiar but I'm not sure why. Even still, I hope one day you'll be freed from whatever is haunting you."
No matter what...no matter what happened.
I smiled as he opened his eyes to look into mine. "Whatever is haunting you and scaring you, it doesn't scare me. I won't ever make you cry."
He cleared his throat to calm himself as Izana and Shinichiro caught up to us.
