Ava's POV

Last night, Ingrid told me about going to a different universe and what she discovered there. She thinks the mysterious man she noticed might be involved. But, I won't jump to conclusions without proof.

As I was making my breakfast while thinking about what Ingrid said she came and asked"Hey Ava how did you sleep?"

"Great!" I answered, "Hey Ingrid, mind shedding some light on the guy you encountered in that alternate universe?"

"Oh yeah you mean Damian" Ingrid replied "I don't know much about him but he is also attempting to find my variant's killer"

"Alright I wanna meet him tomorrow but for now I wanted to say that... don't you think all this is somehow... connected?" I asked

"Yes but frankly I think that there is someone who wanted to kill me and I guess that my variant somehow found out about it and he also killed her," Ingrid said as I laughed

"Do you really think it is as straightforward as that?" I asked "Ingrid this all is way more profound and complex than we think it is"

"But how?" She asked

"Ingrid, there are many possibilities, but I think one could be true: You might have discovered something you weren't supposed to know. To protect whatever that information is, your killer erased your memory and, unfortunately, took your life. This could be linked to your other versions, making them targets too. If we don't step in, he might get rid of most, if not all, of your other selves." I replied

"Then what should we do now?" Ingrid asked getting anxious

"Look there is no need to worry I'll take care of everything but first I need to meet Damian," I said trying to assure her that everything would be fine

"So like when can you meet him?" She asked

"If possible how about right now because after everything that's going on, I don't think we should wait till tomorrow morning," I said

"Alright I'll go and find him and if he's free I'll bring him here okay I'm leaving," She said

"Okay but take care," I said

"I will" she replied before leaving

As I waited for Ingrid to return with Damian, the anticipation hung heavy. The idea of confronting a potential ally or a hidden foe stirred a mixture of anxiety and determination within me.

When Ingrid returned with Damian in tow, his presence seemed to shift the atmosphere. He had an air of mystery that made me wonder about the depth of his involvement in this intricate web of events.

"Hey, Ava. This is Damian," Ingrid introduced him, and we exchanged greetings.

"Nice to meet you, Damian," I said, eyeing him carefully. His gaze was steady, and there was an earnestness in his eyes that gave me a sense of reassurance.

Ingrid wasted no time diving into the heart of the matter. "Ava, Damian has been trying to find my variant's killer. We thought it'd be best if you two joined forces."

I nodded, acknowledging the shared objective. "Alright, Damian. Ingrid has briefed me about your mission. But, before we proceed, I need to know more. What have you discovered so far? Any leads?"

Damian hesitated for a moment as if gauging how much he could trust me. "I've been following a trail of unusual occurrences in different universes. There's a pattern, but it's elusive. It led me to the mysterious man Ingrid mentioned. He seems connected to the disturbances."

"Disturbances?" I pressed for details.

"Yes," Damian continued, "strange energy fluctuations, disruptions in the natural order. It's like someone is tampering with the fabric of reality."

Ingrid interjected, "And we suspect that this someone might be the key to both my death and the threats to my other versions."

I pondered their words, contemplating the gravity of the situation. "If we're dealing with someone manipulating the very essence of existence, we need to proceed cautiously. Damian, join forces with us, but remember, trust is earned."

Damian nodded in agreement. "I understand, Ava. I've been searching for answers, and it seems our paths have converged for a reason."

As we united against the looming uncertainty, the shadows of conspiracy deepened, promising a journey filled with unexpected twists and revelations. Little did we know, this alliance would unravel secrets that went beyond our wildest imaginations, propelling us into a realm where the lines between friend and foe blurred, and the true nature of our adversaries awaited discovery.

Author's note: hey guys I am sorry for not updating (again). But this time I had radiculopathy from typing too much and I think the 2 week break was also a major part because I didn't write at all for 2 weeks and then just all of a sudden wrote chapter 5 so yeah. I was advised to give my hand rest for some time so I did. Have a great day /night
