"I swear you will be fine. And if you're not, I won't be fine either."
I could hear, but my voice was raspy. I wanted to speak but my gut told me not to, you gotta trust your gut you know? I tried to move but I couldn't find myself strong enough, instead a whimper and a slice broke the silence. "Holy!" Rein yelled something and I could slightly see her being pushed away. I muffled as she sighed, I was trying to ask if she was okay, but obviously nothing came out. I tried to move again but this time, I could feel my skin getting hotter with each breath. "oh no.."
.......
Rein was screaming in shock as the dragon tried slashing her face. The dragon took over, it was like, I was there but I couldn't do anything. The dragon part of me thought it was Rein who hurt me when it was the opposite. All of my scars were transferred to the dragon, and as Rein was the only one around...
"Rein!" I screamed. She couldn't hear me, I was basically a ghost. I needed to think harder then before.
The dragon book!
The book said if I kissed the person my dragon is attacking, then the dragon thinks it's love and will leave the person alone. I couldn't remember anything else, something about consequences? Whatever! I sighed and walked up to Rein, her shaking eyes and a scratch on her eyebrow, told me she was done fighting off this dragon. The dragon, my dragon, was madder than ever. I figured this would be done faster than ever, a simple kiss and it was done. It felt harder than that. I couldn't bring myself to do it. The bright red dragon and its white spikes were threatening Rein with every roar. I would do anything to save the poor girl. I finally brought myself to kiss on the cheek. I sighed, thinking it was over. The dragon gave out a relaxed sound before the iris in the green eyes of the turned a sharp black and continued to slash at Rein. Did the book mean a full fledged kiss? I thought for a moment. Anything for her. I bent down and put my mouth to hers.
She could tell someone was kissing her. Our lips did a dance that only we could read. The dragon calmed down and collapsed on the floor. "What the..." Rein was confused. I couldn't get my mind off the kiss. Even if she couldn't tell it was me kissing her, I still felt embarrassed. I let my mind into the dragon and turned back. The wounds stung like a wasp, but they were started to heal.
I coughed up smoke and got up. "I-I'm sorry, I should've dealt with my own-" The warm spot on my cheek where Rein had just kissed me, turned bright red as both cheeks blushed. "No! Lay down and.." She continued to rant on and on about what I should be doing to heal faster. And I followed every step, every rant, and every little thing she said.
I trusted her. Even if we barely knew each other, I trusted her. We talked and talked, about our lives, about who's a jerk in school, pretty much everything! I felt more alive talking to her.
CLICK-CLICK
I could tell Rein was about to freak out as soon as the sound of the door being unlocked came to our ears. She cursed towards herself, looking around the room, she grabbed an extra shirt and shoved it on me, then she grabbed a blanket and the remote to the tv in her room. "Alright. I'll be in the living room, stay here!" I nodded.
I couldn't tell what she was doing, but I kept the warm blanket on. The shirt she shoved on me must have been one of her large hoodies, it was a tight fit, but I still wore it. She was a pretty girl, she was simple, and I loved that about her. The door opened but I couldn't hear their conversation. A few minutes later, Rein came back with hot chocolate. "Alright, I know it's not winter, but I have some movies if you wanted to watch some!" I laughed. "What movies you got?" She laughed and pulled out some movies. "Scary, cute, funny, kids..." She has every type of movie. "Considering it's getting close to halloween, scary." She smiled. "My favorite!" She plopped down about twenty-five horror movies and told me her favorites. We chose one called, "Cereal Killer" It was about a man who would steal woman's hearts and then buy them cereal, sneak poison into it and then if that didn't kill them, he would finish the job himself. It was interesting and unique.
We continued to watch the 2 hour movie until Rein started to fall asleep. I checked the time and realized it was about 7. "Shoot." I froze for a moment. What the hell am I saying shoot for? There is absolutely no way I am going back to that ragged old house with my brother. I looked at Rein and smiled as she laid her head against mine. She moved to the other side uncomfortably like my shoulder was cold. I pulled her towards me and heated myself. She snuggled up closer, I sighed in relief and layed down myself. I slowly started drifting off to sleep.
A knock on the door woke us both up. She rubbed her eyes and paused the movie. I hadn't been asleep for long, probably about thirty minutes? She opened the door and her dad came in. I had taken off the sweatshirt a little bit ago since I was getting a little too hot. "Yes?" Rein was confused and checked the time.
"Already! Alright Thorn, grab something warm! We're going!" I looked at her for a moment "Where?"
"It's restaurant night! You want to choose the place?"
I gave her a huge smile. "I know the perfect place." She smiled at me, her huge warm smile seemed to brighten up the whole room. I told them the restaurant and her dad looked a little nervous. "I don't think we have the money.." I smiled at them. "I'll pay, don't worry!" Her dad looked up at me. "Really? You are so nice! Rein invite this young man anytime and if you two end up dating, I would happily accept a wedding!" Rein's face turned tomato red. "Dad!" He laughed. "But seriously, I would." Rein continued blushing but smiled. "Alright! Let's go!" We all rushed out the door and into the car.
I checked my pocket to make sure I had my phone. My phone had my credit cards attached, it makes life easier. I felt my phone and sighed of relief. "We always do this when Mom works late, it's like a special day for us." I looked at her. "Am I ruining your special day?" She snapped her head at me. "Boy! You made our whole day better and I cannot thank you enough for that." Her dad looked behind the front seat. "I couldn't agree more." They both laughed and soon the car grew quiet.
I felt so happy to accepted. I soon got lost in my thoughts. And soon it hit me.
I was in love with Rein.
