This girl has to be joking. Iowa is exactly what she described but most places there smell terrible and a lot of neighborhoods have bad people...
Whatever! It's her choice.
Iowa...
"You sure you want to go to Iowa?" It was the kind of state that was normally pretty silent and never stood out. "Yeah! It always seemed like an interesting place, plus, it gets really hot in the summers and really cold in the winters!" She was scrolling on her phone about Iowa and I rolled my eyes. "Why did I agree to come with you?" She scoffed. " 'Cuz i'm your soulmate?" She shrugged her shoulders like she didn't care and we both laughed.
"Where in Iowa do you wanna live?" She looked over like a mad child. "Give me time to decide you meanie!" She slapped my arm a little harder than expected but I gave out a chuckle. She was sitting in the back, I had some blankets and pillows in the back and I figured we would pull over and relax, sleep, and set some things up.
I slowed down and pulled the wheel over, it was a nice spot to stay the night. I shoved some pillows and blankets onto her and laid down the seats so it made something similar to a bed. I put a comforter on the bottom to make it less hard. Once everything was set up, I shut all the lights off and laid down next to Rein.
She had helped me lay everything out. I had a charging port in the back and let her use it, we would take turns every night. "Thorn. Even with all these blankets i'm freezing." I tried giving her my blanket since I was sweating but even then, she was freezing and I was still burning. "This is going to suck, isn't it?" She sighed, she probably felt terrible and it was my fault.
I took off my shirt and put it to the side, she was literally freezing, she was shaking her eyes shut. "Hey. Rein. If you're that cold I have a trick that might help." She nodded. "Do anything, i-im freezing." I smirked and she gave me a look that I could read inside out. "N-not like t-that jerk!" I chuckled to myself. "Promise you won't get all..." I made a weird sound and she nodded, laughing, and she understood.
I scooted closer toward her and her cold hands made me shiver but we ended up sleeping.
......
I woke up to the sound of an alarm and I immediately smacked Rein's phone. "....no...." Rein was laughing as I groaned, I didn't want to get up yet. "Get up sleepy bug." I slowly sat up and yawned. "sleepy bug..?" She chuckled toward herself. "A new nickname for you I guess." I rolled my eyes. What the hell was a name called 'sleepy bug'?
I looked over and caught Rein staring at me, and not just me but the fact I wasn't wearing a shirt. "Crap!" I quickly grabbed my shirt and shoved it over me. She blushed and turned away. "Let's get everything set up and we can be on the move." I opened the back of the door and stretched. I went out to pee and when I came back most things were packed up and I just had to help fold the bed back up and put everything in the seats, away. Soon we started driving and everything was looking fine. "Thorn, did we bring any food?" She was curious but she already knew my answer. "er.. Yeah!" She seemed surprised, after a few seconds she knew I was lying. "So where's this food you spoke of?" I stared at the road and laughed. "In this gas station we are just pulling up to." She turned red. "That does not count!" She murmured something to herself and I just chuckled. We ended up in the gas station, we bought pizza, snacks, and they sold some water bottles to us for free. Rein's phone buzzed and she stepped out to take it, she came back a few minutes later. "Thorn we have to go!" I was confused since we were just ringing things up. "Where and why?" She seemed so nervous.
"My parents have been tracking my phone!"
