A knock on the door broke my attention, footsteps coming over to me soon after.
I turned my head to see Clara standing their, nervously shuffling as she stood.
"Are we ready?" She spoke up.
"We should be." I felt a small tremble in my hand as I spoke. I secretly hid my hand behind my back, watching as she turned back to the door, expecting me to follow.
I pulled my hand out in front of me, watching as it shook in place before grabbing it at the wrist with my other hand, forcing it to stay still.
I shook my head, trying to focus on the task at hand, picking up my bag and following Clara out of the warehouse, walking all the way to the hotel.
As we stood outside the building she turned to me, her nerves clearly seen.
"What's now?" I took a seat on the bench and motioned for her to take a seat. Once she did, I looked at her closely, watching her nervous movements.
"First things first, you need to calm down." I hand her a small earpiece, motioning for her to put it in her ear as I do the same. "If you appear nervous, it's not going to be taken well from anyone. The staff, the civilians, even 'Anarchy'. So take a deep breath, remember why we're doing this." She followed my instructions, inhaling deeply and exhaling.
"Okay, now what?" She asked me much more calmly, a determined look in her eyes.
"Try not to show much of that determination, we need to seem like we belong there. So act casual." As she shut her eyes, putting her head in her palms, I started to explain the plan. "We are going to go in and explore the hotel, if you see anything you will contact me and let me know where you are." I reached into my pocket and handed her a card. "This will let you in the elevators." She looked at me confused.
"How did you get these?" Once the card was out of my hand I chose to speak.
"Something I've been working on for the past two days." I let out a sigh. I reached into the bag and pulled out a dark Kamino.
"What will you do?" I stared down at the Kamino.
"This is the uniform the workers wear, so I will be going in and checking the restricted areas." I stared into the building, finding some workers wearing the same uniform in my hands. "Did you watch any of the body language videos I asked to to?" She nodded her head at my question. "Good, you'll be using it to find out who could be attacking this place."
I stood up, Clara following my lead. As we walked inside the building we split up. I saw her headed towards the cafeteria, while I moved towards the staff room, getting changed quickly. I pressed my finger into the earpiece as I left.
"Remember to use the earpiece if you find anything." I stuffed my bag into a little crook in the stairway, a place nobody should find.
I moved around the building, inspecting each room that was off access to ordinary people.
I checked the kitchen, the boiler room, the electrical room.
And I found nothing.
Clara hadn't checked in, occasionally speaking to me to make sure we were both fine.
But we found nothing.
It had been close to an hour since we arrived, and it was silent.
I walked down one of the hallways, making my way to the stairs and walking to the roof.
Once I opened the door I got hit with a breath of fresh air, finally free from the smell of a regularly furnished building.
I looked over the roof, checking over all the electronics to make sure nothing was tampered with.
