The Elements

Chapter Seven

"What went wrong?" The girl who was Flora's best friend, Arabella asked franticly.
Selene didn't know what had gone wrong. She just knew that two of her new teammates that shed just met were now lying on the ground, unconscious.
"Well, it looks like they weren't worthy enough." Cole snickered to Selene.
"Why do you have to say that? You know it it's a good time." Selene snapped only so Cole could hear.
Lilly's face was pale."There was supposed to be only four of the Main Elements, and only three of the Dark Elements...." She was whispering and apparently only Selene could hear.
What was this about?
"Are they ok?" Arabella asked, clasping her hangs so hard together her knuckles went white.
"They'll live, but until they wake up we have to be careful. Maybe in the meantime, Cole and Selene should practice with their powers." Lilly suggested.
Arabella looked like she was about to gasp, but Selene saw her fight against it.
Selene and Cole stepped to center of the forest, where Asher and Flora had just fought.
"Ready?" Lilly asked.
Selene and Cole nodded, then Cole sent a smirk in Selene's direction.
What a jerk, Selene thought, curling her hands into fists, focusing on her Element, Water.
But before she could actually attack, Cole had already quarantined Selene in a ring of blazing fire.
Selene gasped, but she knew if she could, she could set the Fire out with Water. She started to move her arms around, as if it were a dance, and soon Water was moving around fluently. She threw it on the Fire, but nothing happened. She tried again, and this time, the Fire sizzled to just little embers on the ground.
In satisfaction, Selene sent a smirk to Cole, telling she'd just 'burnt out' one of his attacks. Quickly, Selene glanced over at Lilly and Arabella who were talking, and watching her and Cole at the same time.
"I need you to stop for just a moment," Lilly said, gesturing for them to put the training at a halt. " Arabella doesn't have an Element, but she still knows about The Elements, and much about nature, the oceans, weather, and other things. We can't stop her from knowing, so she'll help save the world too."
Arabella had a nervous, unsure look on her face, but she managed to plaster a small smile on her face.
Selene and Cole kept training, then Selene became somehow weak. She collapsed to her knees, but still manganese to use her Water powers.
I can't pass out and I won't! She fought against it, and narrowed her eyes at Cole.
Cole sniggered, and shot a blast of Fire at Selene. Selene blocked it, and as her final move she created a strong wave, and it went towards Cole.
Her eyes closed, and she fell limp.
Why did it happen?
