Cole had just woken up for his third day of school in Fargo, South Dakota. He slicked his light brown hair hair back and put on a red shirt and khaki shorts.
"Now I'm ready for the day, and the ladies." Cole looked at himself in the mirror, being cocky as he did so.
He started to head downstairs to grab his phone, and he did. Usually his father would greet him with "good morning son" but not today. This was unusual.
"Huh? Where is he?" Cole said mostly to himself, and scratched his head.
He shrugged, but on the inside he was kinda worried about his dad, Louis.
If his mother, Ember were still alive, maybe she'd know what's going on.
But she wasn't.
Cole went on about his morning, eating breakfast, brushing his teeth, getting on the bus, the usual.
It was in history class where Cole didn't just notice some girls staring at him, but there was also something else.
He just didn't know what.

Cole decide to think more about what he'd noticed in history class that day, but he also knew there was something more. Louis still wasn't home yet, so Cole had to make himself dinner, which he rarely had to do.
Where could he be? Cole worried. He knows I get worried pretty easily, even though I usually play it cool.
Cole, you need to listen. A voice whispered in his head.
"Ok what is going on?" He said aloud, just as he finished his homework.
Go to the fire pit in the backyard and than you' ll see. The voice instructed.
Cole did as he was told, only because just maybe there was a slim chance this had to do with earlier during history class.
What if it was, and what if it wasn't?
Cole looked around the fire pit, and there was indeed a fire burning in it, and a red light above it, shining almost like fire.
"Cole, listen," A voice like soft waves hitting the seashore directed." you are the Fire Obtainer and you need to work with the other Elemental to stop the Darkness and protect the Moonstone."
Cole looked at his hands in astonishment and there it was; fire burning right in his own hands, not hurting him at all.
"Whoa! This is so cool!" He gasped in delight, moving the blazing hot fire around in his hands.
"But hold on, there is a price to pay Cole, and it is a terrible one." The voice rang in his ears.
"But why? Why won't you tell me?" Cole asked, his voice being worried instead of amazed. "Just tell me!"
"For it is hidden now, but will be revealed at the darkest time." The voice answered at last.
Soon to Cole's worst fear, the fire from his hands violently swirled around him, and he collapsed to a heap on the ground.
And than he vanished into thin air.
