Ra'mora just came back to the pod after spending the night stargazing with Ao'nung rather than at the celebration. She was sat on her mat looking into an old cracked mirror Jake had taken from the lab, taking out the decorations from her hair along with her jewelry.
When she parted from Ao'nung she took notice of the stars again. They weren't as close as before when the two were together at the time. She didn't think nothing of it though, she simply brushed it off.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw Neteyam leaning on the "doorframe" of their shared section. She turned her head to face him, giving him a small smile before returning her gaze back to herself in the mirror. "Hey Teyam, what's up?"
"Where were you?"
"Stargazing."
"And where was Ao'nung?"
Ra'mora hesitated, "With me."
A smirk appeared on Neteyam's face which was quickly noticed by Ra'mora when she glanced over at him. A loud groan almost immediately escaped her lips upon seeing the look on his face, earning a hearty laugh out of him.
"You have something to tell me, don't you?" He teased as he wasted no time to sit beside her on the mat. He was such a fan of gossip, especially when it came to Ra'mora's love life.
"Well yes but.." She trailed off for a moment, thinking about her final decision. "You can't tell anyone. Not even Lo'ak. Well, not yet at least. Promise me."
"Pinky promise."
She tilted her head at him, her eyes squinting in confused. "We don't have pinkies."
"Oh. Right. Well, finger promise?" He grinned at her as he held his pointer finger out to her.
Ra'mora rolled her eyes at her brother's stupidity but nonetheless wrapped her own finger around his, securing the promise. Jake had told them about this pinky promise that was popular amongst the children on earth, the twins were pretty bummed out that they didn't have pinkies but Tuk was ecstatic about it. She even pinky promised to never break a pinky promise.
"Now go on sis, tell me." Neteyam urged, practically almost shaking with anticipation. A laugh escaped Ra'mora's lips at his mannerisms.
"Well you already know that I supposedly had a destined mate, right?"
"Of course."
"I found out who it is. Tsahik told me my reading was different to yours and she burned this weird crystal stick then put the ash all over my-"
Neteyam rolled his eyes at her rambling, "Sis just get to the point. Who is it?"
"Ao'nung."
Neteyam's jaw dropped. Like quite literally. He was both confused and shocked because, how could he be destined to her in the first place if they weren't from the same clans? They would have never met each other if it weren't for Quaritch's appearance again.
He also didn't entirely like the idea of that, for he didn't really like Ao'nung much to begin with. He wasn't fond of the way he treated his siblings and especially how he treated Ra'mora. He hadn't been around him much to notice his change besides the fact he supposedly took care of Ra'mora because she "didn't feel well" and was supposedly dropping off medicine.
Everyone knew that was a lie they pulled out of their ass.
Yes he liked to tease her about Ao'nung since he suspected she was growing fond of him, but for him to be with her for the rest of their lives? That was such a drastic difference. Definitely not something he wasn't too sure about liking either.
