Author pov but more focused on how Ao'nung feels.
Relief and excitement. Two words that described how Ao'nung felt in that very moment at Ra'mora's confirmation of being friends.
Ever since the day the Sully family stepped foot on his motherland, and when he locked eyes with the twin of Neteyam, a spark-like feeling bloomed from deep within his soul. It confused him to say the least.
That spark had once belonged to a special person, Ai'xute. He truly believed that he would never find someone like her again, but oh was he wrong. It seems as if Ra'mora was created just to lighten that spark again. That's what he thought at least.
It's safe to say he was okay with that. Okay with Ra'mora filling in the empty gap in his heart that Ai'xute had left. (get it? bc she also left him ☺️)
Completely oblivious to the whole destined mates topic, he found it interesting that he felt something about her even on the first day they met, though to be fair that wasn't a very good first impression. It was so interesting to Ao'nung that he just had to ask his mother.
The Tsahik.
~~~~~~
He stepped inside the pod, a low grumble escaping his lips as he sloppily plopped down on to the mat beside his mother after a long day spent with the newcomers. She eyed him from the side.
She was not a fool, she knew something was bothering her son. She was the Tsahik for crying out loud, of course she knew. She watched him silently for a few more moments as he sharpened a dagger, his shoulders tense.
Ronal sighed, rolling her eyes at his lack of words despite his obvious bad mood. "What is wrong, Ao'nung." Her question came out more like a statement, her voice flat.
"Nothing." He mumbled.
She scoffed lightly, "You must think I'm foolish, huh? Expecting a mother to believe her son's blatant lies. Tsk. Come on now, tell sa'nok." Her tone was stern but in a loving way, it was one of concern.
An annoyed huff escaped his lips before he spoke. "It is the newcomers."
Ronal's ears lowered. She was already hesitant on allowing the forest people to live amongst her and her people. Hell, she didn't even like them much. This new information wasn't helping her case in the slightest.
Before she could open her mouth to question him further,he continued. "It's the oldest Sully girl. Ra'mora, I think that's her name? She's just... I don't even know. When I first even saw her I felt like I knew her already. It felt like I knew her for centuries already."
Ronal's heart dropped for a moment. She knew exactly what this meant. She wasn't very fond of the newcomers, to put it nicely, and for her to be finding out that her son was destined to one of them wasn't something she expected.
"Really?"
"Yes, really. She feels different from even Ai'xute."
She relaxed a bit at this. She wanted nothing more than for her children to be happy, and she knew Ai'xute was Ao'nung's happiness. Or at least used to be.
Only her and Tonowari knew the real reason as to why her and her family fled. She was saddened to see Ao'nung be upset about it but it had to be done.
"Even.. Ai'xute?" Her voice was almost a whisper. "And you are sure about this?"
He nods his head. "I'm very sure. This is so strange to me. Is there any possible reason for this?"
