2. Settling Into The New House

"Ro? You wanna come help me unpack?." I shout from the kitchen before I hear Ro come down the stairs.

"Yeah dad? What do you need help with?." She asks me before I put a box on the table.

"Can you go keep these in the bottom cabinet for me-"

"Chris?." Mika said coming into the kitchen. "I hope you're not telling our daughter to keep things that can easily break?." She questions me with a raised eyebrow.

"Mom it's only a few things!" Royalty says before she goes to keep the stuff I asked her to keep for me.

"Babe, you need to let her grow up. She's 10 years old now! You can't keep her locked up forever!"

"I know Chris but it wasn't my fault she almost got kidnapped the last time now was it?."

"Why do you always gotta-" Before I could speak some more Mika's phone rang.

"It's my manager! I gotta take this." She tells me before she heads into the living room.

Ugh! We can't even move into a new place without a fight breaking out between us. We've been arguing
non-stop for about 5 months now!

Mika and I were high school sweethearts. But we broke up when she found out I got another girl pregnant. When Ro was about 2 years old Mika came back into my life. We started a relationship again and we got married when Ro was 3 years old!

Royalty's mother hasn't been around since a week after she was born. She cared more about getting high then her own daughter so I took full custody! And Ro has been with me ever since! I know it was wrong for me to let Ro call Mika mama, when she started talking but Ro's real mom wasn't around and so I just let her call Mika mama.

"Chris, I'm just heading upstairs to hop on a video call real quick!" Mika tells me as Ro heads into the living room.

"Okay babe!" All I say as I unpack another box.

I hear Mika huff a little before she walks to the stairs. It might seem like I don't care but I do! I love the bones of that woman and I'll die before I let something happen to her!

I head into the living room to see Ro unpacking some things. I smile at her before I head up the stairs, as I walk up the stairs I hear Mika in one of the rooms talking to someone I think is her manager on a FaceTime call because I can hear a man's voice.

Mika's a model! And with her working all the time it's hard for us to have any time to ourselves but we make it work. But the bright side to all of this is... I don't have to work!

I love just being at home and doing nothing, as you don't see many men do that these days! As I walk into the bedroom I see what needs to be unpacked and I see Mika's already taken care of everything. Damn that girl's fast. I go into the bathroom that's connected to the bedroom and Mika's unpacked everything in here too!

Guess I can just go downstairs and relax with my daughter! I head down the stairs to see what Royalty is up to and help her out with whatever she needs help with.
