Jay rubbed the back of her hand, trying to avoid the bruises that were scattered across her pale skin. She looked so weak, so fragile. It was a side of Erin that he had never seen before. No matter what the rest of his team said, he still blamed himself for putting her in this situation. When he had been forced to leave her, she didn't look nearly as bad as she did now. He couldn't imagine what she had been through, or rather, didn't want to imagine. He looked down at her hand, a smile dancing across his face when he saw her knuckles were recently torn. She had fought back. She still had fight left in her, even at the end. Jay's eyes moved from her hand to her body to her face. Although covered in bruise and cuts, the doctors said there were no majors injuries. A few broken ribs, a fat lip, a black eye, a mild concussion, and of course multiple abrasions and contusions. Jay brushed her hair out of her face, causing her to stir. "Jay?" she muttered when she opened her eyes. "Sh, I'm here." She smiled and looked up at him, squinting. "The light" She whispered. "I got it" Jay stood up and flicked off the lights, leaving the room in darkness. The hallway and machines were the only light in the room, not that Jay minded. "You know what I said back in the cell?" Erin started. Jay nodded, grabbing her hand. "I still mean it. It wasn't the heat of the moment. At least not for me. I don't know if you think that way of me, but-" Jay pressed his lips on hers, grabbing her face in his hands. They pulled apart so their faces were barely a foot apart. "I love you Erin Lindsay. And I keep my promises." Erin grinned. "Alright then" She and Jay leaned in once more, finally able to share their long anticipated moment as they had promised a week before.
