"Is there any activity on the north side?" Voigt's gravely voice came through the speaker. "Nope, north sides clear" Jay switched off the com. "Seriously Jay?" Jay looked over at his partner. "What?" Erin held up a CD. "Adele?" She snickered. Jay quickly snatched it out of her hands. "What? Can't a guy have a sensitive side?" But even he couldn't help cracking a smile. "Okay, okay. Fair enough" she put her hands up. She moved around in her seat trying to get into a comfortable position. "It's killing you isn't it?" Jay smirked. "What is?" "Being a passenger." Erin looked over at her partner. "Shut up". "Okay, but it's not my fault your transmission conked out." "I'm hungry. You got any food in this thing?" Erin changed the subject. "No, unlike you I don't have the constant urge to eat all the time." Jay grinned as Erin punched him. "Where the hell is this guy, he's 40 minutes late" Erin looked through the binoculars. "Maybe he's dead. I for one wouldn't be heartbroken" Jay said. Erin frowned. "I don't think anybody would mind. This guys a sadistic son of a bitch." Jay didn't respond. He was looking at the rear view mirror. "Jay? What's up?" Before he could respond, there was a loud crash and their entire world went black.
