"There's no one in the car" Casey said to the remaining members of the intelligence unit. "Wait, what do you mean?" Voigt held back his sigh of relief. "I mean that nobody's in the car" Casey explained "The airbags are deflated, so somebody must've been in the car at the time of the accident." "Wait, so you're saying that they were in the car, but then they got out?" Antonio asked, somewhat stupefied. "Well I'm no detective, but if I had to guess..." Casey's voice trailed off. Their conversation was cut short when Ruzek ran up to them. "Guys, you gotta see this" he said breathlessly. Voigt looked at Casey who nodded and walked back towards his truck, almost running into Shay and Dawson who were pulling the victim on a stretcher. "I want to be notified the minute this guy wakes up, okay?" He called to them. Dawson nodded. "Sure thing." Voigt nodded back and hurried to catch up with the rest of his unit.
"Okay, run back the footage" Ruzek ordered the owner of the convenience store. The man did what he was told, rolling back the footage. "Okay, stop here and role it" The Intelligence unit watched as a pickup truck rammed Jay's car into the pole. Voigt's pulse quickened when two masked men jumped out of a delivery truck parked near the car and dragged Jay and Erin's limp bodies out of the car, throwing them into the back of the truck. "I watched the whole thing hapin', then I called the firefighters" the owner of the convenience store explained after the footage stopped. As he said this, Voigt flung the door open and walked out. "That was the right thing to do, thank you for your time sir" Ruzek thanked the man as the rest of the unit followed after Voigt. They found Voigt in the alley by the store. "Dammit!" He yelled, pounding his fist on the brick exterior. "This happened on our watch" he tried to keep his voice low. He looked at the faces of his team. "We'll stop at nothing to get them back, you got it?" They all nodded, an unspoken confirmation to get their teammates back, regardless of the consequences. Almost immediately after Voigt had spoken, the screen on his phone lit up. Erin's number flashed on the screen. Voigt looked at Ruzek who immediately ran to track the call. Voigt took a deep breath. "Voigt" he spoke, surprised his voice sounded as calm as it did. "Detective Voigt." A sharp voice muttered. "It's so nice to speak with you again."
