The loud creaking of the stairs brought Erin out of her slumber. The room was flooded with light, blinding her momentarily. When she could finally open her eyes, she saw a tall figure standing in front of her. "Well Detective" Lucas said menacingly "It's just you and me." Erin looked up at his smiling face. If she didn't know better, she would have spit on him, but she knew she was better off if she kept quiet. "What, no snappy comeback?" He grabbed her hair and pulled her head back. "Cat got your tongue?" "What the hell do you want?" Erin grunted, trying to shake off his hand. "Not so brave now that your 'little friend' is gone, huh?" A wave of anger flashed over her, but she continued to keep her mouth shut. Lucas pulled her head back even farther, desperately trying to get a reaction out of her. "I think he loved you Erin" Lucas tried a different approach. "You know what the last thing he said was?" Erin bit her lip. "He said, 'Please don't hurt her'" Erin bit down on her lip even harder, the taste of blood filling her mouth. "Isn't that sweet? Lucas taunted, watching Erin desperately trying to control her temper. "But I guess he can't protect you now-" Erin couldn't take it anymore. She snapped her head forward, hitting Lucas in the groin. He let go of her hair and sagged to the ground, groaning all the way down. She kicked him as hard as she could from her position. Lucas yelled and almost immediately his two large sidekicks came rushing into the room. One of them tackled Erin while the other pulled Lucas out of the cell. Erin fell back as the man lunged toward her,the force of his weight causing her head to smash into the bars behind her. Her vision began to swim, and before she knew it, she had once again slipped off into an all too familiar darkness.
