The front door closes behind him as he kicks his shoes off. They land haphazardly on the floor.
He has a relatively okay day behind him. Tuesdays are oddly nice days overall; He grabbed some lunch with his friends and it was quiet in the library. The weather was nice as well, not a raindrop in sight even though the forecast said umbrellas would be needed.
He drops his bag on the floor as well and walks straight into the kitchen.
There's some litters on the floor. Why hasn't Changbin cleaned them up? I told him to do it in the morning.
Oh.
Oh?
There's cardboard boxes on the floor and one on the kitchen table. There are cutlery, plates, glasses and other items in them as Hyunjin looks at them, frowning.
He looks around him.
The doors of the cabinets are wide open.
What the actual-
"Jesus, Hyunjin"
He turns around and sees Changbin in the door way. "Don't creep around here like that, Jesus, man"
Changbin approaches him. He has an off vibe, turning the atmosphere tense and Hyunjin confused.
"Can't you move? You're kinda in my way" the older friend says as he makes his way past Hyunjin.
Now Hyunjin notices the tape roll in his hand as the older starts folding and taping the boxes shut.
Hyunjin watches him speechlessly until he's able to get words out.
"I... What is this? Changbin? Are you... Why are you packing all these things up?"
Changbin huffs as he stops what he's doing. He looks at Hyunjin from where he's kneeling. His brows raise and he looks at Hyunjin like he had just asked about the most obvious thing in the world.
Hyunjin looks at him back. He doesn't understand.
"Duh, I'm packing, can't you see that?"
"Yeah, but... but why?"
"Why? I think you should ask yourself that, Hyunjin"
What?
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah, no, excuse me, please" Changbin says as he finishes with the last box. He stands up and takes it in his arms, disappearing into the hallway.
Hyunjin follows him with big steps.
"Changbin. Changbin! Why are you doing this? Why so suddenly?"
"It isn't suddenly, Hyunjin, I've been considering this for a long time now... So long it sounds ridiculous now that I think about it"
"Just... Just tell me why!"
Changbin doesn't answerhim but keeps piling the boxes into the corner of the hallway. Hyunjin follows his every step, watches him not paying any attention to the younger hovering behind him and following him like a lost ghost.
Hyunjin doesn't understand. He can't wrap his head around... whatever this is and for whatever reason it's happening.
He thought Changbin and he were okay now. They may have had a rocky start, not quite being in sync with their lives and that causing stupid arguments.
