Felix met him about five and a half years ago. They seemed to click instantly. They seemed to complement each other perfectly, fitting just right. They looked good together, nearly too good to be even true. However, nobody questioned it nor thought about it as odd, unnatural, suspicious. They seemed like they were meant for one another, made for one another.
They met at the school's library. They're the same age, just a few weeks apart, actually. They shared a lot of classes and even during their free time, they were always stuck together. If you saw one of them, the other was surely somewhere close as well.
Jeongin has been watching them all these years. Of course he has, Felix has been his best friend since forever. And even then, Felix never replaced him. Sure he has spent a lot of time with him but he has always had time for his younger friend too.
Jeongin's grateful for that and he can say that all these years he has been truly happy for Felix. For them.
He seemed like a good man when Felix first introduced him to Jeongin. He looked at Felix as if he were admiring the most precious jewel. He treated Felix well, joked with him, laughed with him, baked with him and brought him flowers. Felix loves flowers, especially daisies and he took advantage of that greatly.
Jeongin never missed how Felix would become flustered and started stuttering every time.
At first Jeongin was sure so they would last forever. There was no doubt, no single hesitation.
Even though at first they resembled more like a love struck teenage couple in their honeymoon era. Soon turned out it was actually much deeper and more meaningful than just puppy love.
Everybody was envious of them. Everybody looked at them amazed, wondering how lucky they are to have found each other. Everybody wished the same for themselves, to find their other half. Jeongin admits he has been daydreaming about the same thing but not too actively or in a way that it would cause him lose sleep.
Everybody wants to be loved, everybody wants to be happy.
Just like Felix and him.
However, during all those years something was slowly but surely changing. Jeongin could sense it and soon so could literally everybody else. Everybody but Felix himself.
Nobody can pinpoint when it exactly begun or how it kept on going, it just happened.
Jeongin noticed some signs though.
He didn't look at Felix with those shiny, fond eyes that one who's in love has. He was less touchy, didn't joke nor laugh as much with Felix as before.
He became more reserved, noncommittal and silent. Everytime they hung out together, it seemed like something was missing. Like a spark, that kept the dumb smiles on their faces and the love for each other thriving, was missing.
He wouldn't look at Felix in the eyes, didn't ask him how he was doing. He became more awkward and uncertain. He looked like he had lost his interest, fallen out of love.
However, they spent time together still, as much as before. But at some point it begun to look like it was forced, acted.
Felix didn't stop talking about him either. The way he spoke about him didn't change either. He had always talked about him with the biggest eyes and the shy smile, with rosy cheeks and an endless energy. Felix was so full of love but he didn't seem to be the same way.
