[Author's Notes: This fic can be viewed as both romantic and platonic. Idontknowmy123abc2 requested this. I'm so sorry for the long hiatus and how short this one-shot is, school is a mess. This also includes a bit of my headcanon.]
...
The loud yet faint metal sound of the spatula scraping the egg off of the steamy-hot wok immediately greets a particular lazy college student's ears after their alarm clock goes off. They yawn as they run their fingers through their messy hair, checking to see if their roommate is up, yet.
Just like usual, his bed is already empty and his white quilt is folded into a tofu cube while his spotless mattress has no wrinkles on it, as if he hasn't slept on his bed at all.
Y/N takes the glass of water beside their bed and sips it slowly, letting the cool liquid clear their mind a bit before starting their day. A small exhale of relief escapes their slightly chapped lips after solving the desert-liked thirst in their dry throat after a long night. The young adolescent then drags their sluggish body to the bathroom, watching the cold water run from the tab to their cup while squeezing a small portion of mint toothpaste on their toothbrush.
After all those morning routines, they go to the kitchen and can't help but smile when they see their roommate cooking breakfast for the both of them. "Hey, Al... still an early bird, huh? Guess I shouldn't be surprised." Y/N yawns before sitting on a chair and slumping on the table like a slush.
The ravenette chuckles briskly as he flips the eggs with quite some skills. It's surprising to see the fast and obvious improvement Albert has made after finally entering the kitchen for the first time. "Why, thank you, Y/N~" He responds in his usual cheerful tone as he places the eggs on two separate plates. He then lays four raw slices of bacon on the hot wok, the fragrance of fresh meat and the loud sizzling of the oil make Y/N's stomach churn in anticipation.
The adolescent waits eagerly as they watch their hot roommate finally finish preparing. Albert gives a plate and some wooden utensils to them as he keeps the other serving. A cup of newly brewed hot coffee is on his right as he pours a cup of beverage into Y/N's favorite mug. "There you go!" The boy hums in satisfaction before digging into his culinary.
As soon as the egg is cut open, the beautiful yolk pours out immediately and slightly stains the pork, its bright coloration of sunny gold shines under the ceiling light wonderfully, and those white steams are almost inviting Y/N to take a huge bite. The brown portions of bacon are crispy yet tender at the same time, matching with the right amount of rose salt and pepper powder as a seasoning, it kind of makes them want to sneeze but the taste is absolutely worth it.
"By the way, I decided to make some salad for lunch," Albert suggests as he slices his food elegantly. He's still not used to eating normally without holding a knife and fork formally. His neon pink eyes stare at his friend who's sitting across the table from him. He grins and tilts his head to the side, a strand of loose black curl sliding down as he does so. "What do you think? Does it sound nice? I just learned that new recipe yesterday, I hope you'll enjoy it."
Y/N nods hastily as they gulp down the blazing-hot but delectable cuisine, the extreme temperature burns their tastebuds so they grab their drink and take a swig of the liquid. Their relieved sigh only earns a giggle in amusement from the dark-haired male. "Relax~ Take your time to eat, Y/N~" He comments playfully as he shows off his careful actions of chewing and swallowing which he has learned since childhood.
They roll their eyes and smirk back. "Yeah, yeah, whatever, fancy boy," they reply sarcastically and continue to gulp down the entire glass of their favorite drink. "You're lucky this is a Saturday morning or else you won't have time to eat like this." Y/N sticks their tongue out at Albert with a cheeky expression plastered on their face.
"Oh, please~ I woke up early enough to take my sweet time eating food, unlike you." Albert laughs and takes a sip from his black coffee, he then makes a disgusted face as his eyebrows scrunched together. It's quite a unique sight to see this optimistic boy having such a face. "We really need to buy more milk. I hate black coffee, tastes so bitter..." he sighs and gently pushes away his pink mug with a blue jellyfish printed on it. Albert Krueger doesn't necessarily 'hate' coffee but just prefers to stay away from black coffee.
He always likes a cup of hot latte in the morning as the warming scent of milk brings comfort to his nostrils, and the heated coffee is beyond pure bliss when it dissolves on his tongue, clearing the thick fog inside his brain after a long and proper sleep.
Y/N hums as a simple answer and nods in return since they understand Albert's preference for coffee. They stare at their half-empty refrigerator in contemplation, finger drumming on the wooden dining table. "Sure, might need to also get some groceries, too," they mumble and run their fingers through their hair. Their eyes narrow slightly to stare at the wooden clock, 9 AM. They then redirect their focus toward the opened window, admiring the nice view outside. It's been quite a long time since the weather is sunny.
"By the way, wanna hang out together? Like, outside?"
This sudden request catches Albert a bit off guard, but he quickly recomposes himself and raises one of his eyebrows playfully, his lips twitching upward in amusement. "Why?" His teasing tone is a bit obnoxious, though he means well. The poor kid doesn't have a lot of friends and has never really gone out with other people before, however, he has finally found a good companion.
They shrug and point toward the area outside. "Today is a nice day, weather and wind are both comfortable." That's indeed correct. The cool breeze slips inside the dormitory soundlessly with open arms, engulfing the two roommates gently in its hold. A faint ray of sunshine quickly follows the wind and also waltzs into the cozy living room, as if having a small competition of who's the brightest with the ceiling light. "So you coming or what?" Y/N asks nonchalantly as they finally gaze back at Albert, who has now taken over their former position of watching the blue sky.
In a split second, time seems to have stopped. The soft and natural golden light adores the black-haired boy's pale skin from above, accentuating the vague apples of his cheek perfectly. The angle of how the sun hits down on his soft flesh makes him look so surreal and divine as if he's wearing a long aureate robe that slowly fades to dust at the hem. "I can never forgive myself if I ever turn this offer down, my dear Y/N," he smiles calmly when he reverts his attention to them.
The two simply stared at each other for a few moments, both enjoying the pleasant silence between them.

[My headcanon: Yes, in this fic, I mentioned that Albert prefers a latte instead of whole black coffee. There are two main reasons behind that (which are not canon).
1. He might have a sweet tooth. He doesn't say it out first since his family is not fond of dessert that much, claiming that sweets are bad for someone's health. Later when Albert attends RMU, he finally gets a taste of chocolate chip ice cream and he realizes that he just can't get enough of sugary stuff.
2. His father loves black coffee and Albert doesn't want to be like him. Though Albert never has the guts to admit it to him.]
