It was 1 a.m. and I sat on my bed thinking about earlier actions, was I scared? Yes. I was terrified, I wondered why and how was I involved with something so scary that I don't know or understand, but the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about was Mr Perez, when that figure disappeared he was there.

Mr Perez also told me not to speak about the incidents and he said he started working 5 years ago the same time as the students went missing, it baffled me to think if he was behind it all, mostly today was my mission to know more about Mr Perez.

I got up from my bed searched through my backpack and pulled out the book, I looked through the pages, I wasn't so keen on "solving" this issue, I was more so interested in finding out who was with me earlier. And I don't think it was some teens trying to prank me, no one even noticed that I was the new kid today, it was a normal day for them.

The only person who knew I was starting was Mr Perez, so deep down it had to be him. I walked downstairs slowly to see my Dad downstairs watching the pre-recorded football. "Hey honey, can't sleep?" He asked.

"Not after today," I said slumping down next to him.

"I forgot to say this, you were very brave," he said as he kissed my head.

I smiled as I looked at him "Dad you grew up here, do you know what happened to the teenagers 5 of them went missing?" I asked.

"I have to say honey, a lot of people didn't really care not even the police, after they went missing the police did one week of searching but they didn't find a clue on the whereabouts, it's like the disappeared out of thin air," he talked.

I nodded "Dad, I have this new teacher. Well not new he started 5 years ago the same time the incidents were starting today I was chased and the same teacher after I ran out of the library was there, is it a coincidence?" I asked.

"Did you tell the police about it?" he asked.

"No, because I thought he was there to help until I got home I thought and it just seems weird that all of a sudden he was there, do you think he could be involved?" I looked at him.

"I don't know, maybe stay away from him," he said, I nodded. I noticed the time so I decided to head back to bed, I knew it was a busy day ahead of me.

It was 9am, I walked into my first period, I saw Mr Perez at the end of the hallway, he looked at me and signalled me to walk over and that I did, I thought to myself 'If he is this psycho, why does he has to be so damn hot?!'.

"Morning," I said as I looked at him with a faint smile.

"How are you?" he asked, it sounded he was being genuine.

"I'm fine, the police said that it could've been students playing a prank on me, but it's cruel prank wouldn't you think?" I raised my eyebrow.

He stayed quiet, I made sure no one was around, I looked at him "Why were you there yesterday?" I asked.

"I don't think you needing to be asking these questions to a member of staff," he said as he folded his arms across his chest.

"You don't think it was odd that whatever chased me down that library last night disappeared as soon as you turned up?" I looked at him, I was little bit annoyed.

"Woah woah, why would I be the psycho of Nova City?" he asked.

"You started working the same year the first student disappeared, you told me people don't talk about the incidents then yesterday I got chased almost to my death and you were there all of a sudden," I raised my voice slightly.

He suddenly held my arm and brought me to his classroom and closed the door behind us, I stepped back into the corner, I looked at him trying to figure him out.

"Vae, I'm an undercover detective, I've been trying to solve this mystery but I haven't found anything on it this past 5 years, for the 4 years I've witnessed these students disappearing but I couldn't stop it because I had no clue what or who would do it, yesterday I was investigating and I heard screaming, then I saw you," he looked me in the eyes whilst talking, he was telling the truth.

I was quite speechless, I didn't think he would be a detective. "Are you really telling the truth?" I looked at him.

He walked over to his desk in the top draw and pulled out his badge, I took it and had a look at it "Why was the thing after me then?" I asked him.

"I think you know that answer Vae," he said.

I looked at him and remembered the book "New kids?" I tilted my head at him.

He nodded "You aren't safe tonight Vae," he said.

"I'll be fine," I handed his badge back and left his classroom, I was overwhelmed on what he had confessed to me.

Once again I was at the library after school but I left before the librarian did, it was dark already which wasn't the greatest feeling, I walked down the street where I was closer to my home, I muttered to myself "Yeah I'm not safe, sure,".

I just kept walking until I heard a sound behind me and before I knew it, I was on the floor, I felt paralysed, I couldn't breath, I couldn't talk. Tears ran down my cheeks.

Eventually my eyes closed, I couldn't fight it.
