The following day, I was in the bathtub still in his home. I gently used the sponge to cover and scrub my body with the warm water. I heard a knock at the door "Yeah?" I softly said.
"There's towels in the guest bedroom," Javier said.
"Okay," I replied.
I laid back into the tub and looked up at the ceiling, I felt sick, exhausted and confused. All the emotions were giving me a headache my Mom didn't speak to the cops, she wanted to speak to me. And that's what I was getting ready to do.
Everything I have gone through because my mother was a cruel person, and she put me through that and I wanted to know why.
I dunked my head into the water as I closed my eyes taking slow breaths. I heard another knock at the door, I sat back up rubbing my hands over my eyes "Yeah?" I said.
"I wanted to say that," he pauses, "Never mind," he said before I heard him walking away. I sighed, as I finished up in the tub and walked to the guest room and started to change.
My hair was still damp but I left it air dry, I walked into the living room where Javier was sitting with a mug in his hand "Can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Of course," he spoke as he looked at me.
"Were you looking for me?" I looked at him.
He nodded "Ever since you disappeared Vae, myself and Ellie have been looking for you, I wanted to ask you something as well," he said. I nodded letting him continue.
"Did you know it was your Mom?" He asked. I shook my head "I had no clue, I didn't know anything apart from clues in the room I was in," I replied.
"Were you alone?" He asked.
"I thought I was, until the figure... My Mom got me to choose from a piece of paper, written one and two. I had chosen, I heard screams afterwards. I picked someone's death choice, does that call me a murderer?" I started to get upset, he placed his mug down got up immediately and hugged me.
"It doesn't, you're a brave person. I and Ellie will be with you through this, I promise you," he said, I looked at him and nodded.
"Ellie texted me something last night, about your ex-wife. I'm sorry. I don't know why or how my Mom would do that, I wouldn't have known," I looked at him, and I put my head back into his chest. He rested his chin on top of my head "It's in the past now, what I'm more focused on is bringing justice to you and those children," he said as I felt his hand on my back.
An hour later, I walked into the station with Javier and Ellie. I took a deep breath and walked into the room, where my Mom was waiting for me with cuffs on her wrists chaining to her ankles, I felt the sickening sensation again. I felt nauseous. I looked behind me to see a blacked-out window, where I couldn't see through but I knew Ellie, Javier and the other detectives were behind the glass.
I slowly walked over to the table and looked at her before sitting down "Start talking," I looked at her, she sighed and looked at me "Why Mom? Why?" I spoke.
"It all started on my 18th birthday, year 1986. I didn't like birthdays, celebrating your birthday on Halloween always sucked, I never got anything or it didn't get celebrated. I asked my parents to stay out of school because I got teased a lot by the older kids, but they didn't listen and they sent me to school," she said. I just looked and listened.
"School was fine but I was walking back and those students decided to play a prank on me and kidnapped me and left me in the forest shed, it was a joke to them but for me, I thought I was going to die. It traumatised me for years and years afterwards," she continued, I looked at her "What does it have to do with those specific kids and me Mom?" I raised my voice.
"The students who played the prank on me were the students who I kidnapped and killed, I wanted revenge for what they did to me all those years ago," she said.
"But why me Mom? Why Dad?" Tears started to fall on my face.
"You are a smart woman Vae, I knew you would start to figure out why and what happened to them I couldn't risk my plan to be ruined, so I kidnapped you but I never harmed you, I would never harm my baby," she said getting emotional.
"But you did! You harmed me mentally, you made me choose those murders, I thought I was going to die in there," I started to cry she looked at me and held my hands "Why did you kill Dad? Javier's wife? Why?" I looked at her.
"Your Dad and I had a big argument when you went missing, we were on the verge of a divorce. He blamed me for horrible things, and then that nosey detective got involved, talked to your father, he blamed your father for your disappearance and that lousy sod isn't smart enough for a plan like that, MY PLAN. So I killed him, but before I did. I told him where you were so he knew you were safe in my hands," she expressed with a cold stare.
"You're sick in the head, you could've left your past alone and been the bigger person but instead you freaking killed people Mom because of a prank, why did you kill Javier's wife?" I raised my voice.
"Because she saw me one night, she saw me doing something and she told me about him and his life and I thought it'd be an easier attack, I thought if I killed her he'd be broken and wouldn't carry on with this case but he did, he outsmarted me, so it was a waste of time. Then Ellie was getting involved so I stabbed her to slow her down but she showed up fine a few days later," she continued, I could feel my stomach turning.
"I heard you got attacked. Did you do that to yourself?" I asked.
"Of course I did, that nosey detective kept asking me questions so I killed his security guards and then stabbed myself, luckily I survived," she said as I saw her mouth turn into a smirk. I moved my hands away from her touch as I had tears down my face.
"Did you not think of me? Think of when I got out. I'm alone, I have no one. I kept thinking when I was locked in there I couldn't wait to escape so I could hug my Mom and Dad and now I have lost both because of your sick mind," I raised my voice and cried.
"I hope you get what you deserve in prison, I wish death sentences were still a thing, you a witch of a woman, killing innocent people over a prank that happened 37 years ago. The woman who raised me... the woman who killed people is my Mom," I kept crying but she grabbed my hands "Look at me baby," she said.
I looked at her with tears down my face "I wish there was a better way but there wasn't. I wish I didn't have to do that to you but I raised you into a smart girl," she said as I looked at her.
"Well I'm happy I took after my Dad, I'm happy that I don't have to see your face ever again because when you go to court I hope you go down hard, I hope you suffer in a cold room, alone forever where no one will visit you," I got up and snatched my hands out of hers, I walked out of the room in tears as Javier pulled me into his body as I sobbed.
