Break Me
_____Eden and I spent the next morning avoiding each other. Whether it was being done on purpose or not it was creating tension between us again and it was starting to stress me out once again.
I was certain that she was still not over our argument from last night.
"Eden." I said as I called for her. She was pacing around trying to keep herself busy.
"I don't want to talk about it, Hunter." She quickly said in response avoiding my gaze.
"We are going to have to whether you want to or not, whether you like it or not." I said as I stood in the kitchen, leaning over the island.
We have been staying in a beach house the entire time we had been here, under witness protection.
"Why do you always like to dwell on the past?" She questioned me as she stopped in the middle of room.
"I can't keep feeling like this, holding everything in instead of talking about it because if you couldn't tell already, it's starting to affect me." I said as I maintained eye contact with her.
"I don't know what you want me to say Hunter." She said as she continued to look at me.
"You haven't tried to say anything Eden, anything at all!?" I said as I raised my voice out of frustration.
"I am fucking trying, Hunter!" She said as she yelled back defensively.
I sighed deeply as I rubbed my temples out of frustration.
"Okay, let's not argue again, please."
"It's either we actually talk to each other, or we actually go and reach out to a counselor." I said as I looked at her.
"I am not going to a stranger to talk about my feelings Hunter." She said as she started to pace throughout the house again.
"Then talk to me Eden, what the fuck?" I said as I stepped into the living room as I laughed sarcastically.
"Okay, Hunter, let's talk." She said as she came back into the room, walking over to the couch, and taking a seat.
I couldn't tell if she was being serious for a moment, so I hesitated at first.
"Are you going to come sit next to me or not?" She questioned me with annoyance in her voice.
I walked over to her and sat down beside her.
"I wasn't sure if you were serious or not that is why I hesitated." I said as I avoided her gaze.
"You have been constantly trying to get me to talk to you, now is your chance to say whatever you want to say so we can be done with this." Eden said as she cleared her throat.
