-Gwen-This had to be Ameela's doing. With my weakened legs I stood up and took deep breaths as I silently made my way to the door. Arowin had been in the bathroom for hours, this was my only chance to find answers.
I wasn't even sure where to find her, but I remembered the room she took me to and ran as fast as I could. I turned the knob and slipped inside quietly.
"I assumed you would want to talk." Ameela's calm voice met my ears.
I remained by the door. I wasn't going to entertain whatever game she was trying to play. She placed her tea cup on the table and walked towards me. I kept my hand on the knob to steady my shaky legs.
"You are injured, I see." She said casually as she glanced at my wobbling figure and burned neck. "I could remedy your pain." She offered.
"What did you do to him?" I questioned directly.
"I haven't the slightest idea as to what you mean." She furrowed her brows and tilted her head.
"Why did he start acting crazy right after you left?" I interrogated her already knowing she had something to do with it.
"My dear, he has simply always been this way." She replied coolly. "He's clearly a nuisance to the plan. Look at you, you're injured and it's all because of him." Her tone lowered as she finished.
"You said you assumed I would want to talk to you. That means you know what I'm talking about." I fumed while my body began to tire at my increasing anger.
"It is simply instinctual. I can usually tell when someone wishes to see me. Similar to the folklore of when your ears burn, someone is talking or thinking about you." She explained.
I narrowed my eyes. What the fuck was she playing at.
"You don't want to be truthful?" I asked with a dead tone.
She matched my intense gaze and kept up her facade of innocence.
"I will get the truth. One way or another." I threatened.
As I turned and began to slowly open the door I stopped and kept my back to her.
"If I find out you're plotting to hurt anyone I care about, I will make you wish your husband had killed you first." I deadpanned.
I knew my aura was seeping anger and I was losing control. I knew I wasn't going to get anything out of her. At least not yet. She's underestimating me. A grave mistake on her part.
As I sluggishly and angrily made my way down the halls a guard turned the corner just as I had. We both stopped and stared. My eyes held shock and annoyance, his held... amusement?
"To what do I owe this pleasure, great High Priestess Gweneria?" He spoke in a condescending tone. "Why is the little pitohui out of her cage?" He pried with a smirk.
Pitohui? What the fuck was that? I stared back at him with agitation, but halted my glare. He looked familiar. I've seen him before, but I couldn't remember when.
He noticed my confused expression, but kept the smirk on his face.
"Cat got your tongue?" He asked.
"I know you." I said with furrowed brows while scanning his entire face, ignoring his condescending question.
His smirked deepened.
"Indeed." He said with a knowing glint in his eye.
"Do you know me?" I questioned.
"Of course, little pito." He answered.
