-Gwen-

"No." I moaned out in agony.

No more lives would be lost because of me. Keerly will not lose his entire family because of me.

"Gwen, it's the least he could do." Zaq retorted in frustration.

"It's not right." I gritted out as the pain made its way up my neck.

I knew my entire body was almost devoured. I felt it, and I knew just by the look on their faces, I wouldn't last much longer. I winced and panted as I pulled myself in a sitting position, struggling to hold the towel up.

"It's not right to cheat death. It hurts that I'm leaving you all. I know you want to be selfish and make him save me, but at the cost of someone else's life, I won't do it."

I could feel the black bleeding from my nose, mouth and eyes. I felt the veins climbing over my jaw and under my eyes. I yelped out in agony, unable to hold it in anymore.

Everyone flocked towards me as Fran laid me back down.

"Save her, now!" Zaq shouted at Arowin.

Arowin stared down at me with a pained expression.

"No." I screeched out faintly.

"Please." Rhett begged Arowin.

I felt betrayed. They weren't listening to me.

"Don't." I breathed out angrily. "Keerly stop him. He's all you have left."

I had hoped that would instill some kind of fear in him to stop Arowin, but he remained still. The look on his face told me he wanted to stop him, but he wouldn't act on it.

Arowin made his way toward me as I failed to crawl away from him.

"Stop. You're not doing it." I said to him as he watched me wheeze and wince in pain.

"How can you say that when this is your condition?" He said in a soft deep voice.

"What happened to not leaving my side? Isn't that what you said?" I whispered angrily, trying to use his own words against him.

"You're the one trying to leave me. I have to do this. You're my divine and it's my duty. I can't allow this to happen to you. I can't watch you in pain like this." His voice was stern, but the strength in his tone was wavering.

"No." I angrily cried.

My body racked with chills as the pain swallowed me entirely.

"I have to, my love." He whispered as he leant down to plant a soft kiss on my lips.

It wasn't a normal kiss. It was as if he was giving me the kiss of life. The longer his kiss remained, the stronger I felt. He pulled away gently and held both my wrists in his hands. His amber eyes glimmered gold and the veins on my body faded. The more the veins disappeared the less his eyes glowed.

I knew this wasn't the same as the other times. Normally, he would absorb my energy and come out fine, but I felt it. I felt the life draining from his body and flooding into mine.

I wanted to pull away, but even in his weakened state, his grip did not falter.

"Please." I begged once more.

I felt guilt, shame, and anger. I didn't want our end to be this.

"Live for the both of us." He whispered as he planted one last kiss on my lips.
