The sun beamed warmly on Haemin's back. Morning birds sang as he wiped his eyes of whatever tiredness was left. Music papers were strung out on the worn coffee table before him, and the smell of dish soap and pancakes filled the air. Milo, his dog, poked his head into the living room, becoming excited seeing his owner awake. "Morning, Buddy," he whispered, scratching behind the dog's ears before lifting himself off the couch. Padding his way to the kitchen, he winced at the open windows. "Morning, sleepyhead," Y/N smiled; she stood by the sink elbow-deep in dishes. Haemin's hoodie sagged on her figure, the sleeves slightly dropping with every movement she made. Haemin smiled, taking in her appearance. It had only been a few months before they started dating, but Haemin still couldn't help but admire everything she did from afar.
"When did you wake up, Honey?" he said, leaving the doorframe he once leaned on. Y/N shrugged, "early, I guess," she said, turning around and placing a small peck on his lips. Haemin melted, kissing her temple a little before eating the warm food on the counter. "You left quite the mess in the living room," Y/N said, sneaking a bite of Haemin's food before drying her hands off. Haemin's eyebrow quirked before returning to the papers he had thrown all about. "I'll clean it up." he shrugged, pushing the food around his plate. Y/N sighed, "Better clean it up before your mom gets here." Haemin's fork dropped. "My mom?" he questioned; Y/N nodded. "She called this morning and asked if we would watch your sister, and I said sure," Y/N said, grabbing the now empty plate to clean and put away.
Haemin's head felt fuzzy, "I thought you said it was just you and me today," he whined slightly. Y/N rolled her eyes, "this is your sister. Plus, we can still see that new exhibit you wouldn't shut up about," Y/N laughed, kissing his cheek before walking to the bedroom to get ready. Haemin quickly got up from the stool he once sat on and scooped up the papers with messily written lyrics. Shoving them into a folder, he breathed before following his girlfriend in getting ready.
"Nari, please behave for them." Haemin's mom kissed his sister's cheek for the millionth time. "Watch your sister," his mother pointed a stern finger toward Haemin, making him roll his eyes and nod. She gave a brief hug to Y/N, thanking her for taking Nari on such short notice before zooming out the door.
The door shut as all three stood quiet; Nari fiddled with her braids and shifted the bright pink backpack she wore. "Nari, sweetie, do you want to go to the aquarium?" Y/N said, squatting to her level. Nari had gained some confidence when nodding but quickly hid next to Haemin again. "Na, she isn't going to bite you. It's okay." Haemin laughed at his younger sister's shyness. Nari shrugged, unsure what to say, before pulling Haemin down to her level and whispering in his ear. "I think she's pretty, too." he smiled, looking at Y/N, who smiled.
"You weren't supposed to say anything!" Nari yelled, pinching Haemin's arm, causing him to wince. Y/N laughed at the scene in front of her, "Nari, I think you're super pretty too; you wanna get going now?" she held her hand out to the small girl. Nari smiled, placing her hand on Y/N and following her out the door. "What about me?" Haemin sighed, closing the door behind them. Y/N tossed the keys, "you can drive!" she smiled. Haemin rolled his eyes, getting into the car.
Soon enough, the three arrive at the aquarium. Haemin shifted on his feet, looking at the new exhibit of jellyfish. He looked to the corner of his eye, hearing the two girls giggling. Y/N bent to Nari's small height, pointing to the stingray that glided idly past the glass. The corner of his lips turned up. Quietly, he strolled over to the pair, "what has you two giggling?" he asked, looking at the exhibit of the multi-colored fish. Nari shook her head and covered her mouth in an attempt to stop laughing.
"Nari, let's go to the gift shop!" Y/N said, swinging the small girl's hands and dragging her into the brightly lit shop. Haemin couldn't erase the smile on his face. He hadn't known Y/N was so good with kids. He strolled the isles of the different plush toys, occasionally examining one closer. "Haem," he heard her sweet voice call, his head immediately whipping around to be greeted with her smile. Haemin felt those same butterflies; he blinked. "Yeah?" his voice almost cracking; Y/N held out her hand. "Your mom is coming to pick up Nari soon; we gotta go," she said.
Haemin smiled and noticed the plastic blue bag Nari swung in her hands. "Watcha got there, kid?" he asked, trying to peer inside as they returned to the car. Nari shook her head and gripped the bag tighter, not to let Haemin see. "None of your business," Nari said, sticking her tongue out. Haemin rolled his eyes, starting the car, "I never get to know anything." he whined; Y/N laughed from the passenger seat. "Cause it's none of your business, nerd," Y/N said, slightly pinching Haemin's cheek.
"Thank you both for watching her; it means a lot," Haemin's mother said, resting her hands on Nari's shoulders. Haemin's arm snaked around Y/N's waist, pulling her closer. "It was no problem, really!" Y/N said, waving bye to Nari, who stood smiling brightly. Haemin's mother smiled, nodding and bidding her goodbyes. "Haemin, you take good care of her!" Haemin's mother yelled, exiting the door. "Yes, mom. Bye!" Haemin let out a breath upon closing the door.
Y/N laughed, "Your mom is sweet," she said to Haemin. He quirked an eyebrow, "she's sweet to you," he groaned, coming closer and hugging Y/N, placing small pecks around her face. "You are too good for me," he mumbled, kissing Y/N's lips and laying his head on her shoulder. Y/N smiled, "likewise, Haem," she said, kissing his temple.
"Dinner and a movie sound good to you?" Y/N questioned, running a hand through Haemin's hair. He leaned into her touch and nodded, "I'll order the usual," Haemin stated, letting his arms drop from her waist before pressing another kiss to her lips. Y/N blushed and turned to the living room. "We are watching Pitch Perfect," she stated; Haemin groaned. "That's the third time this month!" Y/N only stuck her tongue out in response.
Haemin only smiled, pulling out his phone to order takeout, wishing this feeling would last forever.
