Maybe This Summer

Yungyu mumbled to himself fumbling with the suitcase that had gotten trapped under his sisters two other suitcases. "Yu!" Yungyu stopped cursing to himself and turned around hearing
Y/N voice. He smiled brightly as he saw her racing towards him. "Y/N!" he yelled back running to meet up with her. The two friends crashed into each other with a big hug. A small scream was heard from Y/N as the two crashed onto the ground below them, both erupted in giggled and breathes heavily.

"Every year with those two" Yungyus mom shook her head watching the two help each other up and hug once more. "You think this summer will finally be it?" his sister nudged his mom and crossed her arms. "Please let it be, they are both so oblivious to each other, it makes me sick"
Y/N's sibling says grabbing their duffle bag rolling their eyes.

Yungyu and Y/N's mom were best friends in high school and have still kept up with each other since. Every year the two family's go on vacation to some where new. Luckily for both families, their kids were even closer. Yungyu and Y/N have grown up beside each other and have remained close despite only seeing each other a few times a year.

"Soooo tell me what I've missed since christmas" Y/N said throwing herself onto a small bed watching Yugyu sit on the twin bed across from her. Yugyu struggled to even look in her eyes, had she really changed so much since christmas? He coughed awkwardly before answering, "I joined the soccer team" Yungyu said shrugging. "Woah...I didn't know you had athletic ability..." Y/N said making Yungyu glare at her. "You've obviously changed a lot...what did I miss?" Yungyu said, Y/N stayed quiet thinking for a moment but she found herself blanking. She watched as Yungyu sat across from her listening eagerly as she stumbled on her words trying to tell stories.

Y/N mentally cursed, 'god I'm so awkward, I wish   I could shut myself up' as she continued rambling. Yungyu sat watching her adoringly as she avoided his eyes. 'Why won't she look at me' Yungyu thought to himself and focused on her eyes more. Y/N eventually stopped and confusingly looked to him, "are you okay?" she questioned. Yungyu shook his head, "yeah why?" Y/N snorted and covered her mouth slightly, "you looked so concentrated and constipated at the same time I was worried for you" Yungyus ears blush a deep red with embarrassment. They both laughed but were quickly cut off by their siblings entering the room.

"Hey lovebirds, get ready we are going to the beach" Yungyus sister said boredly leaning on the wall. Yungyu and Y/N looked away from each other slightly blushing hard. "Don't call us that you freaks" Y/N said grabbing a pillow and throwing it towards their siblings. Both siblings laughed and left the room leaving the two flustered teens alone once again. "Well- I'll see you at the beach then yeah?" Y/N awkwardly got up breaking the silence between them. Yungyu smile softly and nodded as he walked behind Y/N to the door. "You'll be able to find me right?" Y/N said stopping and turning to face Yungyu. He laughed and punched her cheeks endearingly, "you are comically easy to track down, I'll find you." he said, Y/N rolled her eyes and nodded before leaving to get changed.

Later on, Y/N sat on the shore line of the beach the water occasionally splashing and hitting her legs. "Found you." Y/N gasped and turned around seeing a smiling Yungyu crouched behind her. "JESUS, what is wrong with you!" she hit his chest and groaned. Yungyu laughed and grabbed her hand pulling her up from the ground, "cmon let's swim!" he waded into the water pulling Y/N a long with him. Yungyus sister and Y/N's sibling watched the two teens tackle each other in the water and laugh loudly. "Should we say something?" Yungyus sister looked to her left to Y/N's sibling. "I would, but honestly there's no use now. They are gonna deny it anyways." Yungyus sister hummed in agreement before laying back down to continue tanning.

Y/N and Yungyu continue to splash each other in the water. Y/N had wiped the water from her eyes and saw Yungyu staring at her, "Why are you staring at me?" she said sarcastically splashing him making him break eye contact from her face. "Just thinking about how you look like the girl from the ring" Yungyu said leaning his head back smirking. "You ass, at least I don't look like a wet dog" Yungyu snorted and shook his head. "What dog has blue hair?" Y/N rolled her eyes. "Bluey, duh."

"You're so dumb" Yungyu said laughing swimming out deeper into the water. "Yungyu, I can't swim out that deep" Y/N struggled kicking her legs, until she felt arms wrapped around her. "I can hold you" Yungyu said backing into the deeper water as Y/N looked at him as if he was a psycho. "Yu-" Yungyu shushed her, "little do you know a lot of girls would kill to be in your shoes right now ." Y/N flicked his shoulder and scoffed, "I'm not even wearing shoes..."

"You know what I mean." Y/N looked past Yungyu's shoulder to see the horizon. The sun was setting making the sky full of pinks and oranges. "Yu, look" Y/N tapped his shoulder to make him look around and to sunset in front of them. Y/N watched the sky, but Yungyu was stuck watching her. The glow of the sun perfectly reflecting off her skin. He was in awe, 'this is so stupid she's your best friend' he scoffed at himself quietly. He sighed catching her attention, "something wrong Bluey?" she said messing with his newly blue hair. He shook his head and smiled, "you know I forgot to ask you something earlier" Y/N hummed telling him to go on.

"Do you have a crush on anyone?" he asked looking back to the sun. 'Oh shit.' Y/N thought to herself, "do you have a crush on anyone?" she asked him. Yungyu rolled his eyes and adjusted the grip he held on her waist to keep her floating above the water. "I asked you first" Y/N tsked in response, "I...guess but it's not important" she said looking to Yungyu who was looking intently at her as if he was trying to read her mind. "Your turn" she said, Yungyu let out an awkward laugh. "Uh yeah, I guess I do too." Y/N silently was hoping this girl could fight. "Oh who is she?" Y/N questioned.

Alarms went off in Yungyu head telling him to back out of the conversation but he had already made it this far. There was only one way to know if she felt the same, so why not go for it? "Her name is Y/N...she's nice I guess." he shrugged nonchalantly avoiding her eyes. Y/N smiled bright and looked at Yungyu, "Thank god, I thought I was about to fight someone" she let out of sigh of relief and laughed a little.

"What is that supposed to mean!" Yungyu said scrunching his eyebrows. "Oh I like you too I forgot about that part" Y/N said pinching Yungyus cheeks. "All I ask for is one romantic moment-" Y/N cut him off quickly, "I can't handle it I would've screamed and ran away but we are in water!" Yungyu laughed looked away from the sunset to the girl next to him. "So..." Y/N rolled her eyes at the boys awkwardness and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "Maybe, this could be our first summer as more than friends?" Yungyu smiled and nodded. "I like the sound of that."
