You looked out the window of the bus, a sea coming into view. "Haem, look." you said gently tapping his knee, grabbing his attention. "The water looks so clear" he whispered softly, you hummed in agreement. Excitement filled your stomach as you clutched two hidden tickets in one hand, Haemins hand occupied your other.
For as long as you've known Haemin, you've known of his love of whales. The first time you came over to his house he showed you his room upon your request. A blush crept onto his cheeks as you looked at each whale plushie, poster, and book that graced his walls and shelves. "It's childish I know, but-" you remember cutting him off quickly giving him reassurance that it was in fact not childish. You had admired his passion and curiosity of the animal, despite of your very big fear of it.
The bus came to a stop snapping you out of your thoughts, you got up from your seat. Giving Haemins hand a squeeze telling him to follow you. He had been suspicious of you most of the morning. Texting him basically at dawn, when he knew you liked to sleep in especially on Saturdays. You had picked him up from his home coffee and croissant in hand with a wide smile. Haemin couldn't help but smile, your excitement for the day making whatever anxiety he had fade away.
"Y/N the board walk is back that way" he said pointing, confused why you were walking towards the docks that held many tourist boats. "Nope, we aren't going to the board walk today" you said smiling back to him. You approached a large boat, handing your tickets to be checked. "Enjoy!" said the large man handing you passes and nodding. Haemin blinked, "Y/N, what's going on?" he said following you onto the rocky boat.
You laughed and sat down near the bow of the boat, looking out over the water you fumbled with your bag and pulled out a pair of binoculars. You handed them to Haemin, "Y/N, I'm serious if your kidnapping me and taking me to a different country I wish you would've given me a bit more notice...I would've packed a bit more" he mumbled, looking down to the fanny pack strapped across his chest. You blinked for a second processing his words, "No, Haem... look at your pass" you said, holding up the pass that read "Bay Whale Watching"
Haemins mouth opened slightly as he realized, he looked towards the water as the boat started churning loudly. "This might be the most romantic thing that has ever happened to me." he said grabbing you into a big hug. "Haem, you're gonna miss it look!" you pointed as movement could be seen in the water. Haemin played with the binoculars and smile brightly looking through them to see the huge whales traveling along side the boat.
As happy as you were to see Haemin, yo had to admit you were very scared. The sea had always been a major fear, the huge animals that could also easily take the boat down weren't helping your case either. The boat dipped slightly causing you to grip onto the back of haemins shirt. "Scared?" he said smirking down at you, you nodded. He laughed wrapping an arm around your waist. "Did you know whales are some of the most complex singers? They can last up to twenty minutes and can be heard from over twenty miles away." he said, you shook your head. "You're the biggest dork" you said, Haemin rolled his eyes playfully. "I'm YOUR dork, so this sounds like a you issue honestly." he said shrugging. You both smiled at each other before turning back to the open waters to watch the whales.
Soon enough, the boat sailed back to the dock. "M'lady" Haemin said holding out his hand to help you off the boat. "Thank you kind sir" you said grabbing his hand and stepping onto the dock. "Can we check out the gift shop in the marina?" Haemin asked swinging your intertwined hands back and fourth. "Of course, Haem" you said smiling. Upon entering, the smell of fresh water was evident, the two of your browsed the long isle filled with toys and books of sea animals. "Hey babe look at-" you turned around with a small toy in your hands only to become faced to face with a much older women staring angrily at you. "Oh sorry...I thought you were someone else" you coughed awkwardly and walked away fast.
"Baby!" you heard a familiar voice call from the entrance. You stumbled out of an ice to see your boyfriend with a small plastic bag in hand, giggling at you. "That was so not funny do not laugh!" you growled at him pinching his side, as you two exited the shop. "Sorry, but maybe you'd like to be with your new boyfriend?" he smirked. "It was so embarrassing, please" you whined looking at him. "Alright, I'm sorry. However, I got you something!" he said, reaching inside the plastic bag. He pulled out a small, light blue whale plushie, he handle it under his chin and smiled. "For your bravery today" He said handing it to you giving you a small kiss on the cheek in the process.
"Thank you, you didn't have to get me anything this was for you." you said looking at the cute plushie in your hands. He shrugged and wrapped his arm around your shoulders pulling you close to him. "Today was amazing, love. Thank you...how about lunch?" he said pointing to a small cafe. You nodded, "My anxiety has made me ravenous." Haemin laughed, "such big words, come on, I'll pay."
In the end, maybe facing your fear was worth it to see him smile.
