Shining Just For You

Y/N and Sophie sat in the school's library giggling back to one another. History and english books, along with random highlighters and pencils covered the small table they sat at. They were pulled out of their conversation when they heard the distance chatter of their other friends coming to the table. "Shit, I thought we had more time! Does my hair look okay?" Sophie said brushing her fingers through her chocolate brown hair. "It looks perfect as always don't worry" Y/N said smiling softly.

Jaeyun, along with his friend Yoonsung and Minho approached their table bags of snacks and drinks carried loosely in their hands. "Hi Sophie" Jaeyun said pulling out the chair next to her and sitting in it. He looked at her intently and smiled before turning to Y/N "Hey Y/N!" he said nodding his head slightly. Y/N shrunk in her seat as Yoonsung and Minho sandwiched her. She smiled and nodded back, Jaeyun quickly turning back to Sophie and handed her the bag full of snacks and her favorite drink. "They are so disgusting to watch" Yoonsung said, Minho nodded in agreement. Jaeyun and Sophie were to busy in their own world to notice Yoonsungs comment. Y/N quickly laughed and returned back to her notes.

Minho peered over her shoulder and gasped slightly. Y/N looked up from her notebook, "you're notes are so organized!" Minho said. Y/N rolled her eyes and shoved the notebook too him. "You owe me, this is the only time I'll let you do this" Minho 'tsk' and took pictures of the history notes. "You said the same thing two other times, but thank you, you're the best" he said sliding the notebook back to her and she continued to write. The five talked the entire evening, Y/N's eyes never leaving Jaeyun.

Y/N finished telling an awkward story about her and Sophie while they were in middle school. Jaeyun laughed and locked eyes with her. Sophie checked her watch and cringed, "I better get home my moms gonna murder me" she said getting up and grabbing her stuff. Jaeyun quickly grabbing her notebooks and textbook for her. Of course handing it too her with a charming smile plastered on his face. Minutes after Sophie left, Y/N got up, breaking the silence. She said her silent goodbyes to the boys and turned to leave. Just as she reached the door, she felt a soft hand grab her and pull her back slightly. Y/N gasped and turned around to be face to face with Jaeyun. "Sorry for scaring you" he laughed letting go of her wrist, Y/N shook her head. "It's fine" she said a blush forming on her cheeks. Jaeyun suddenly held out a pen and small note pad to her. "Can i get your number?" he said with a softly smile.
Y/N choked on whatever air was left in her lungs, and quickly nodded writing it down. "Thank you! I'll text you tonight" he said waving and running back to the table he once sat at.

Later that night, Y/N sat in her bed scrolling through her phone uninterestedly, when she got a message from a random number.

Hey! it's Jaeyun :)

Y/N felt her heart stop. She quick closed her phone and set it on the pillow next to her. 'What could he possibly want?" she blushed at the thoughts forming. Maybe he liked her all a long, and he was ready to say something. Maybe, he was asking to hangout with her. 'This is so stupid, sophie likes him don't think like that' she shook her head and picked her phone up quickly typing a response.

This is probably a big favor to ask but since you're sophie's best friend i thought you'd be the right person to talk too lol
Would you mind helping me ask her out?

Y/N eyes looked up from the phone screen and looked around her room. The wall infront covered with the pictures of her and Sophie became blurry as tears welled up in her eyes. She quickly sniffed and blinked them away.

Yeah ofc! i'm happy to help :)
I'm excited to see you two finally get together

After that, Jaeyun basically confessed his undying love for her best friend. Jealousy and Anger pooled in Y/N's stomach. She couldn't let it bother her. It had always been like this, Sophie got the guy and Y/N watched. But maybe this time, she wanted it to be her.

The next day during their lunch period. Jaeyun surprised her with her favorite flowers and candy, of course asking her to be his. Sophie of course said yes. Y/N smiled and hugged Sophie as Jaeyun credited her for helping him. Yoonsung and Minho watching from behind Y/N.
Y/N sat next to Yoonsung and continued eating her lunch. "You're a good friend, Y/N." Yoonsung said patting her head. Minho staying quiet, nodded his head in agreement. Y/N laughed and shrugged, "What do you mean? I'm happy for them...they look happy. So why shouldn't I be?" she said looking to Yoonsung with a cheesy smile plastered on her face.

I'm a mirrorball, I can change everything about me to fit in.

Two weeks later, the group found themselves at the same library table. Sophie and Jaeyun whispering sweet nothings into each others ear and giggling. Y/N looked up from the textbook and rolling her eyes slightly. Yoonsung was off at another table which left her and Minho together. He watched her as she rolled her eyes and went back to highlighting. He slid closer to her and put his arm around her. "You're cuter! OMG nO you're cuter!" he said mimicking Jaeyun and Sophie's voices. Y/N laughed throwing her head back as Minho kept impersonating them. "Thank you, you're so funny" she said nudging him with her shoulder. She kept her eyes on Jaeyun and Sophie the big smile she once had fading, as she was pulled back into her reality.

Minho blushed and kept his eyes on Y/N as she watched them. Wondering how to make her smile again. The words 'I like you' threatening to escape his lips. But she needed time. Minho was willing to wait. Maybe she would find out she wasn't the only one who felt like a mirror ball.
Minho leaned back into his seat going back to ipad copying her notes smiling softly to himself.
