❖Chapter 1❖
"Roohi so gaye? (Did Roohi sleep?)" Abhimanyu asked Aarohi when he saw her, after entering the house. He was at the hospital for forty-eight hours.
"Haan. (Yes.)"
"Khana khaya? (Did you eat something?)" He asked.
"Nahi. Tumara wait kar rahe thi. (No. I was waiting for you.)"
"Tum jaa ke nahalo. Main khana laga deti hoon. (You go and take a shower. I'll warm up the dinner.)" She said getting up from the sofa. Looking at his face she could tell how tired he was. Being a doctor isn't easy. She knew as she was an Obstetrician.
Nodding, he went to his room.
She went to the kitchen and took out the leftovers from the fridge. She warmed the sabzi in the microwave. Warming up the rotis on the tava. She brought out the plates from the cabinets and placed the food on them. She took the plates to the dining table.
Soon, Abhimanyu came and took his seat. Both of them ate their food silently.
Usually, they chit-chat while eating but since they both were exhausted they chose not to.
Abhimanyu picked up the dirty plates and placed them in the sink, he headed to his room, wishing Aarohi a good night.
Aarohi slowly opened the door, not wanting to disturb her daughter. Tip-toeing to her bed, she lightly picked up the duet and entered.
As she lay in a comfortable position, her eyes made their way to her daughter's sleeping figure. She smiled seeing Roohi snuggled into her blanket, hugging Tuffy, her soft toy.
She was thankful to god for giving her Roohi and for the friendship she had with Abhi.
If anyone told her that she and Abhi would be best friends, she would laugh hysterically at the person's face for saying the impossible.
But look now, how her fate changed. How she's a mother to a beautiful six-year-old and a widow.
She knew she made many mistakes in the past. Her lying to get married to Abhi, her making fun of her sister's infertility... The list is so long but she knew she rectified her mistakes by apologizing. The happenings that occurred seven years ago, changed her life. She lost her husband and her sister disappeared after Abhi divorced her. She knew she shouldn't have accused her sister but what she said to her was in the heat of the moment.
She wished that she could go back to the past and not say that. Maybe, Akshara and Abhi would have still been together.
She was so lost in the thoughts that she didn't know when sleep took over and said tata bye-bye to her subconscious.
So... how is the first chapter? I know it's short. But it is needed for the story to progress.
