❖Chapter 13❖
"Mamu!" Roohi said, trying to grab his attention.
"Yes, betu." Vatsal looked at her.
"Jo maine mangaya tha, woh hai kahan?" she asked, wanting to munch on the chocolates.
"Mere bag mein hai, beta."
"Mujhe de —"
"Roohi, bhade baat kar rahe hai na. Maine kya samjgaya tha aapko. Jab badhe baat kar rahe hai toh beech main mat bhola kro," Aarohi interjected, telling Roohi off.
"I'm sorry, Matashree." Roohi's lower lip jutted out.
"Hey, it's fine. She's a child Aaru." Vatsal intervened, feeling sad for his banjhi. Children behave this way all the time and he anyways wanted to give her the gifts he brought for her.
"Tum toh na hi bolo." Aarohi gave him the stink eye.
Vatsal put his forefinger on his lips, looking at Roohi. He gave her a warm smile. He loved the kiddo so much.
The elder's conversation resumed with Roohi swinging her legs to keep herself distracted.
Anisha glanced at Roohi who was trying to busy herself but nothing worked out for her. She bent down and whispered in her ear. "Wanna go out?"
Roohi nodded, jutting her lower lip slightly.
Anisha stood up from the sofa and gave her a hand. Roohi's eyes gleamed as she held her Bua-Massi's hand and got down the sofa.
Anisha gave Shivansh a hand and he got down on the sofa.
"Bache bored hai, toh main unke saath upar ja kar kel lete hoon," Anisha stated and took the giggly kids upstairs with her.
The rest of the family chit-chatted while having snacks with tea.
Soon, everybody sat at the dining table, with their plates filled with Indian food. Everyone dug into their meal. Relishing it to the last bits and pieces.
During the dinner, Vatsal randomly asked, "How's work life going for you, Nishita?"
"It's going well, Bhaiya," Nishita answered after gulping down the chapatti dipped in Shahi Paneer.
They talked a bit more and after dinner was over, Vatsal went to his room and grabbed the presents he got for Aarohi and Abhimnayu and the rest of the family.
He walked down the stairs with a suitcase in his hand. Laying it on the marble floor. He unzipped it and opened it, revealing a bunch of goodies.
He one-by-one handed the presents to each member of the Birla family. Lastly, he crouched down to Roohi gave her a bag full of chocolates and handed the soft toys and the rest of the items to Aarohi.
He undid the knot of the plastic bag for her. She took a candy out. It was...
Smarties.
(a/n: fun fact:- Smarties in Canada are called rockets. Smarties in Canada are like gems filled with chocolate. But I'm not a big fan of them.)
