Chapter 23

The clouds covered the sun, all closing their eyes when the couple panted. Their bodies were close, embracing the warmth. Aarohi kissed his upper lip and rested her face on his chest.

They stayed like that when Aarohi got up, leaving Abhimanyu confused.

"We can cuddle more afterwards I need to pee. I don't want a UTI," she said.

"Okay." His eyes shut and light peeked through them when Aarohi slid into the blanket and placed her body on his. They cuddled for a while and when they remembered they had guests over. Aarohi got up and ran to the bathroom to shower.

Meanwhile, Abhimanyu got up and picked up his shirt scattered on the floor. He wore it and grabbed his pants on the other side of the bed. He walked to the closet and opened the sliding door. He took out a bedsheet and walked over to his bed. Tugging at the old bedsheet he removed it from the bed. The clean bedsheet was spread on the mattress. Abhimanyu tucked the edge of the sheet under the mattress. By the time he was done, Aarohi had showered and stepped out of the bathroom with the towel covering her body. Abhimanyu's gaze didn't wither away. Blush coated his cheeks as he remembered: the moans, the pleasure, the peace he was in.

"I forgot my clothes." She smiled sheepishly.

"Hmm." He looked away, scolding himself for the not-so-innocent thoughts he was getting. She needs rest.

She slid open the closet and picked out an outfit, while Abhimanyu entered the bathroom.

She dressed up, grabbed the moisturizer from the dresser, and applied it on her face and body. Her fingers moved smoothly on her arms, and the scent touched her nostrils, dancing in the air. She finished and closed the moisturizer bottle. Her hands reached to pick up her comb and she caught a glimpse of herself. Hickeys were scattered on her collarbone—a reminder of what happened an hour ago. They were light but still visible. She quickly put down her comb and picked up a concealer to cover them.

Then she picked up a comb again and combed her hair. She made a bun, leaving her bangs, and the tresses kissed her cheeks. The bathroom door clicked open, and Abhimanyu stepped out. Aarohi's eyes met Abhimanyu's in the mirror as he walked towards her. The distance between them disappeared and Aarohi turned towards him. Cupping her cheeks he kissed her on the forehead. "The afterglow suits you." She hugged him, hiding her face on his chest. She didn't understand where the shyness came from. She's someone to proudly be in the moment and appear nonchalant. But here, Abhimanyu was making her express herself. Perhaps this is what love is: being able to express yourself, feeling comfort, and most importantly feeling respected.

He chuckled. "Let's go down before everyone comes up." She nodded and they headed downstairs.

"There you are Bhai Bhabhi. Where did you guys go?" Nishta said as she spotted them. She glanced at Akshara. When Abhimanyu was near her, she whispered, "At least respect them as guests if you can't tolerate their presence. They're here for my wedding so please."

Abhimanyu cupped Nistha's face. "Don't worry Bacha. I'll not do anything that can ruin your wedding."

He kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. He's gonna miss her.

Swarna stood from the couch. She pressed her hands together. "Ab hum chalte hai. (Now we shall go back home.)"

They exchanged goodbyes and walked out into the courtyard. The Goenkas slid into their cars and pulled out of the courtyard. The rest of the family retrieved to their room and anticipating the next day.
