Warning: Smut alert! Skip past the first (Joel's) perspective if you'd like to get to the teeth-rotting fluff that is Sophie's side. Enjoy!

Joel stretched his arms wide, instinctually going still at the feeling of a warm body next to him. His eyes popped open and he heaved a breath of relief as he recognized the soft, pale skin of Sophie by his side. He looked her over, on her side facing away from him, as she slept. It had been a while since he woke up to her sleeping so soundly, sharing a bed with him.

The blankets dragged over her, covering everything but a large part of her back and arms. Her red hair lay messily over her shoulders and the off-white comforter, a flickering campfire came to his mind. She was gentle perfection embodied. A calming figure that threatened to distract him from the evils that plagued him for years.

He reached his hand over, brushing his knuckles over her arm and shoulder, pushing her hair behind her and exposing her neck. He chuckled under his breath as her skin pricked with goosebumps and shivered under his touch. He couldn't keep the smug smile off his face.

Ever so slightly he leaned in, pressing his lips to the side of her neck, moving up to the delicate skin behind her ear. Her shoulder rolled back and her head tilted, giving him more room to press soft kisses along her sensitive skin. She smiled warmly with a satisfied sigh and sleepy eyes.

"Well, good morning, cowboy." her voice was heavy with sleep and it did something to his brain that made him feel high.

She reached her hand behind her and slid it behind his neck as he got impossibly close, molding their bodies together. His chest pressed against her back and she giggled as he brushed his facial hair down towards her collarbone.

She purred, twisting her body to face him as he continued to play his lips on her. He pulled back and tucked a lock of unruly hair behind her ear, resting his hand on the back of her neck. Her green eyes, with a lethargic glaze, trained themselves on his. Her top teeth raked over her bottom lip and his smug smile made another appearance.

"What?" she asked with a confused but amused grin.

"With those big Doe eyes, I might begin to think you are in love with me or something." he teased. She scoffed and stifled a chuckle.

"Me? In love with you? No way."

his grip on the back of her neck tightened slightly. He snaked his other hand under her hip, pinning it between her and the bed. She threaded her fingers through his hair. Neither one of them ready to back down from their newfound game.

"You're an awful liar."

"That's not true!" her voice layered with mock defense.

"I only speak the truth, sweetheart." he flashed her a half-cocked grin and she chuckled.

"I lie all the time. Like..." she tapped a finger against the back of his head as she pretended to think. "I really don't want you to kiss me right now."

He leaned in even closer, their lips just a breath apart.

"Liar," he whispered.

"Never." her face twisted into a mischievous grin, not backing down. "And, I definitely don't want to show you how you make me feel." her voice lowered to a thick promise, giving away her obvious lie.

He held out for a bit longer, refusing to let his unrelenting thirst to devour her take over just yet. He was going to play this game as long as his body would let him. He licked his lips before responding.

"Liar," he spoke barely loud enough for her to hear, more of a growl rather than a word.

She tipped her face toward him and gently brushed her nose against the side of his.
