Callie
I did not like the look on Lexie's face the moment his name was mentioned and soon after Maverick's reception had ended, I questioned Danny's whereabouts. Although my father and mother had tried searching for him, he was nowhere to be found.
"I'm going to head out to find him," My father said.
"You don't want to go to Maverick's?"
"I want to help, Val."
"Are you sure?"
"I am positive."
"I'll come."
"Are you sure, Callie? What about Derek?"
"I already told him."
"Thank you."
"I'll come too," Liza said, trailing behind me.
"You don't have to."
"Nonsense, I am your best friend."
"Where are you guys going? I thought we were going to the house."
"We're going to search for Danny."
Maverick scowled. "Where is he?"
"I have no idea."
"I can't believe he would just leave without saying goodbye."
"We're going to head out, call me when you find out anything, okay?"
"I will."
I got in my mother's Escalade, and I tried to call Danny, only to receive his voicemail. "I just can't believe he would do this."
I looked at my mother and nodded. "We'll find him, mom."
"It is beyond rude leaving his son's wedding to say the least and I am sure that Maverick is crushed."
"That bastard has plenty of explaining to do when I find him."
Maverick
After Lexie and I got home, I put Andrew to sleep and grabbed a beer out of the fridge. "Is everything alright?"
"No."
"What's wrong?"
"My dad left."
"Just forget about it, Mav."
"How can I forget about it? He's my father and he chose to leave my wedding, it really hurt my feelings."
"I know, but don't let it ruin your night, baby. Besides, it is our first night together as husband and wife instead of boyfriend and girlfriend."
My phone vibrated and I saw a text from my father: Call me.
"My dad just texted him."
"Go ahead and call him."
I went outside and calmingly dialed his number, waiting for him to pick up. "Mav, I..."
"Before you can say one damn thing, do you have any idea how bad you hurt me? I was looking forward to having a drink with my father, but that didn't happen."
"I had some things that I had to handle."
"Yeah, okay."
"Maverick, I am serious."
"You really hurt me. I have to go." I hung up, not allowing my father to explain himself any further.
"Babe, maybe he had something to handle."
"It doesn't matter, Lexie. The truth of the matter is, my father left my wedding and it really hurt my feelings."
"I am sure I can change that."
Shaking my head, I sat on the couch and turned the TV on when Callie texted me. What is Lexie's deal? She's acting so weird about him.
Maverick: She just doesn't get how hurt I am right now.
Callie: We'll find him, Mav. I promise.
I truly questioned why Lexie acted weirdly when my father was mentioned. Despite what has happened, I couldn't even consider the thought of her cheating on me with let alone my father.
