After a few months, Nico and I had worked things out, picking up the pieces where we left off. "Is Callie coming to dinner tonight?"

Maverick shrugged. "I don't know, I asked but she didn't respond. I think she's just still hurt about everything."

"I should've been there for her more."

"What do you mean?"

"I just don't feel like a good father."

"Nico, don't say that."

"It's hard to think about, I guess. I hate seeing her hurt."

"All that matters is that your here now, Nico. You have plenty of time to mend things with your daughter."

"I sure hope so."

"Everything will be okay, I promise."

Lexie

"I need to talk to Callie."

"For what?"

"To apologize."

"There's nothing to apologize for. We're happy and that is the only thing that matters in my eyes."

"I need to see her."

Danny rolled his eyes. "Do what you want."

"You don't owe your daughter an apology?"

"Stepdaughter."

"Still... you won't say sorry or anything?"

Danny shook his head, his eyes glued to his laptop. "Go have fun with that."

"I need to see her before we leave, Danny."

"Whatever. Have fun."

I hated leaving Danny, but I had to go and speak to Callie. The moment the door opened, Derek scowled. "She has NOTHING to say to you, nor do I."

"Can I please speak to her?"

"No. You may not."

"You are so disgusting, Lexie. I just can't believe you." I noticed Callie standing behind Derek, looking like she was just crying.

"Callie, please. I... I'm sorry."

"You should be! You are disgusting! I lost all respect for you. My brother did everything for you, yet you basically tore his heart out of his chest."

"He's still hurt?"

"Are you serious right now? Even the thought of you marrying Danny is really weird and creepy. You're 24 and he's 49. How is that okay?"

"Well, it's not, but..."

"Then why are you doing it?"

"I... don't know. I just wanted to..."

"What, you came to actually apologize like everything is okay? There's nothing you can do to make me even like you. It really hurt me because of how close we were but not only did you destroy Maverick, but you destroyed our family. This really sealed the deal and I hope that you are happy with yourself."

"Callie, please..."

"I know how you really feel about me. The only person you care about is yourself."

"I messed up, Callie."

"Don't pull that 'feel sorry for me' facade because I am not falling for it. We are done here, Lexie. Enjoy marrying my disgusting stepfather. I wish you the best of luck so, do me a favor and leave my house."

Knowing that she was understandably pissed at me, I left and went back to Danny's. "So, how did it go?"

"Not good. I need to call Maverick."

Danny scowled. "Why would you call him?"

"Because I can't even see my son." In hopes of possibly receiving a response, I called Maverick and was more than shocked when he answered. "Why are you calling me?"

"I need to talk to you."

Maverick

"What do you want, Lexie?"

"Do you think that I could meet up with you?"

"For what?"

"Because I want to see you."

"No."

"Babe, please."

"Don't call me that."

"Look, I know how things went down but I deserve to see Andrew. He's my son too."

"I have sole custody of our son and it will stay that way for one and two, I have no reason to forgive you."

"Did you get a new girlfriend?"

"No, I have no interest in having a love life because of you. The only person you can blame is yourself so do me a favor and block my number. My sole focus is on our son and that is it. Do not ever call me again."

I hung up and put Andrew down for a nap. Not only did I try my best to be a good husband, but I aim to become the best single father that I can be. I refuse to put my son through any trauma that I have dealt with for the last few years.

My main focus will be not only on myself and my family but my son without Lexie or my father included.
