Fintan's frozen prison was as cold as it always was. A bone-chilling silence enveloped the frigid air. The surfaces of the walls were smooth and glistening. Jagged icicles hung menacingly from the ceiling, their razor-sharp edges casting eerie shadows. The cold seemed to seep into every crevice, turning breath to mist and numbing all senses with no mercy. No one would want to be there willingly, especially a certain pyrokinetic.
Fintan was cursing the Council again, he angrily muttered, "Did they really have to make it so damn freezing? The cold never seems to end."
He felt a slight tremor underneath him. Fintan thought nothing on it since he was trying to fall asleep so he can dream of fire.
When was the last time Marella visited me? He thought, it seemed so long ago...
The tremor happened again, except more noticeable this time. Fintan opened his eyes to look at where the two ice thrones would be outside his prison, to see if anyone has come to visit him.
The wall is still solid ice, no one is there.
A few minutes passed by and two cloaked figures casually walked in and sat on the thrones, Fintan had heard the ruffling of their clothing, so Fintan closed his eyes and acted like he's asleep, just to annoy them. It was his usual tactic, plus it made them make the first move.
"He's so cute when he's asleep, right Gisela?" Vespera's voice taunted him.
Fintan opened his eyes to see that the two cloaked figures had the Neverseen symbols on their sleeves.
"It's not cute, it's pathetic," Gisela shook her head.
"If you say so," Vespera responded. "Oh look, he is awake." Gisela said.
"My, oh my, how the mighty have fallen," Vespera said.
"Speak for yourself, you were in a prison for much longer than I was," Fintan glared, "How did you even get in here? I somehow doubt the Council just let you in."
"We have our methods," Vespera said ominously. "We just took out some guards is all, using a bit of lethal force," Gisela looked at her fingernails. "We bolstered our ranks while you were gone."
"Is this the only reason you came here in the first place... to taunt me?"
"Oh, I think we can both help each other out, we are friends after all, aren't we?" Gisela put her elbow on the frozen chair and leaned her head into her hand. "I know we didn't part on the best of terms but I'm hoping we still share the same goal?"
"I'm not sure I like where this is going, but go on..." Fintan said.
"First of all, you can have your position at the Neverseen back, but you can't go and ruin our plans again with your flair for the dramatic."
Fintan squinted his eyes. "And why are you even freeing me, I know how resourceful you are. What do you even need me for?"
"This was all Vespera's idea, really, she seems to think you're useful for something. But she refused to tell me what it is," Gisela sighed. "I have told you the reason, you just don't seem to think it's a good one," Vespera said, annoyed.
"And what would that reason be?" Fintan asked.
"Never mind that, we may have also had to distract the Council temporarily, so let's skip the chit chat before they find out we're here." Vespera got up, Gisela joined her.
Fintan waited what felt like a few minutes before a sound like grating ice came from one side of the prison, the sliding ice door was now open.
"What are you waiting for? An invitation?" Gisela asked, annoyed at how long this was taking, she couldn't take the cold for much longer, even with temperature regulation.
Fintan scowled, "It would be my pleasure," he stood up shakily on legs weakened by the cold and walked out. "Ah, can't forget, my Noxflare." he picked up his Noxflare that was in the frozen cube.
"You and your fire, let's go already," Gisela turned to go.
"I'll have you know it's a flower and it-" Gisela whipped around and interrupted Fintan, "You can tell me all about it later... right now I don't care! Because I had something I already planned to do after this and it can't wait," Gisela then pointed at Vespera. "And you should've done this after I had already did the thing!"
"I don't give a flying Noxflare what you think!" Fintan snapped back.
"Well... it was too good of an opportunity to pass up," Vespera said with a smirk. "Besides, what if Keefe gives us trouble before we've captured him?"
"You really think he can put up enough of a fight to escape us? You didn't need Fintan for that," Gisela finally turned to go and so did the others. Vespera whispered so she couldn't hear, "Oh, I know."
It was a long and silent walk back out of the cave.
When they exited the cave Fintan ignited some fire in his hand. "Ahh, that's so much better," he said with a ecstatic grin on his face.
Gisela looked at him. "Remember to behave this time, otherwise we might not rescue you the next time you do something stupid."
"Oh... I won't..." Fintan mumbled. "You won't do something stupid or you will do something stupid?" Gisela had overheard what he had said.
"That's entirely up to your interpretation," Fintan snapped back.
Vespera sighed. "You two need to make up your differences-" Vespera paused, they heard some shouting in the distance that sounded something like, "We won't let you escape again, Fintan! Get back here you Neverseen scum!"
"Once we get back of course," Vespera said as she held up her Pathfinder to the sunset to light leap away to their hideout. "Hey could we get something to eat? I'm starving," Fintan said. "Fine," Vespera responded. I'll make them pay for what they did to me, Fintan thought, they walked into the light and had just barely missed being caught.

Keefe was hanging out in his suite in London, he ordered some cookies using the phone. He then started thinking of his friends, when he heard a knock on the door.
Keefe smiled. "The service for cookies sure is fast around here." He got up to open the door.
"Hello, son, how's it been?" Gisela said casually, as if they were on good terms.
Keefe tried to slam the door, but Gisela held it open with her foot. "Wha- How did you find me here?"
"Predictable as always, and I don't have to tell you that, but it did have something to do with Shadowflux," she grinned as someone grabbed him from behind. Keefe stomped on their toes, wrangled himself free, then punched them in the face.
"Maybe you should think twice before trying to sneak up on me," Keefe said, overconfident.
He saw that the attacker's nose was now bleeding, they touched their nose to inspect it. "You will pay for that," the voice sounded eerily familiar. "No intentionally hurting my son, Fintan, or there will be consequences," Gisela said. Keefe's eyes widened in shock. How did he escape? Probably with the help of Mommy Dearest if I had to guess... This is not going to end well, he thought.
"If only you understood what you had in store for you, Keefe," Gisela made a hand signal. Fintan then proceeded to shove a sedative down his throat, "No wait!" Keefe sputtered as he tried to spit the sedative out, but they forced him to swallow it, Gisela walked over to him. And that was the last thing he remembered before it all turned to black.
