Chapter 1: Tired of the Lies

At first light, five Foxfire students had gathered in secret to come up with a prank as revenge for Leto not telling them more about whatever was going on between the Black Swan and the Council. These students were Dex, Sophie, Biana, Tam and Linh. They were hanging out by some secluded lockers. 

Sophie was the last to arrive. "You're late, why are we even here? None of our lockers are nearby," Biana said, waving her arms around for emphasis. "Yeah, some of us have classes to go to," Linh said. 

Sophie turned to face them. "Mr. Forkle has been hiding stuff from us again, he said he would always inform us of what's going on. We need to teach him a lesson that he can't hide secrets from us and keep us in the dark anymore," Sophie told the group. "Who agrees?" 

"Me!" They all said at the same time. 

Tam sulked in the shadows, "I think we should trap him in shadows until he explains everything!" 

"That sounds good like a good idea but we can't do that, he's way too good at dodging questions even while under pressure," Sophie said. 

"Well, I still think my plan would work," Tam muttered, he leaned against a locker frustrated. 

"There is the announcement in the auditorium today, so I say we use that to our advantage. Humiliate him in front of all the students." Biana said with a wicked grin. 

"But humiliate him with what?" Linh said. 

"Hey, I know exactly what we can use for our prank at the announcement at Foxfire," Dex said. 

Dex was holding a mysterious box. "What's in there?" Tam asked. "Oh, just a little something that I made. I was gonna use it to get back at the triplets for destroying my room again, but this is way more important," Dex said. 

Curious and excited, the others huddled around him. Inside the container was a strange concoction he had created the night before – a gooey, iridescent mixture that resembled something in between slime and jelly. 

"It's hard to wash off, so be careful when you touch it," he added. 

They oogled at the ooze. "Ooh, It's so pretty!" Linh squealed, her hand went to touch it. "I just said no touching!" Dex slapped her hand away. 

Linh pouted, "I think it needs glitter!" Dex gave her a look and responded, "No, my goo is perfect as it is." 

"If Linh wants to add glitter to the goo then that's what we'll do," Tam said, unenthusiastically. 

Biana agreed, "Yes, we can add glitter to the mix!" Dex and Sophie didn't look quite as excited as she did about that. "No! Not my perfect goo!" Linh dumped glitter into it before Dex could stop her. "Now it's not as sticky..." He said, disappointed. "Well, I also have some boogie blasts from my dad's store we can use." 

"What's a boogie blast?" Sophie asked. "It's a bomb full of long colorful ribbons that twirls in the air!" Dex responded, demonstrating by waving his hands in the air. 

"Dex, do you have something to release these?" Biana asked. "No, but we can just use the trapdoors in the ceiling that they use for celebrations. Let's get to work, it's almost time already!" Dex said excitedly. They all held hands and Biana made them vanish, they all ran quietly to their destination.
