There was a brief pause of silence after Gisela's announcement echoed throughout the room.

Tam broke the silence. "How did they even get in? There's only the one entrance, plus we're underground."

"Well, if they're inside, then we should fight them. The Black Swan has the advantage here." Sophie said, and they all nodded. Before they reached the door, the harsh sound of fighting ensued outside. Then, nothing.

Sophie tensed as the doorknob turned. Behind the door, a voice, familiar, emerged. "We'll check in here. The rest of you go back."

The door flung open to reveal three cloaked figures, the unsettling eye symbols causing a wave of memories to flood Sophie's mind, leaving her with a pounding headache.

"Heh, you are in here. I knew it," came the voice of Ruy, his hooded gaze fixing on the others. "And some of her pesky friends, it would seem."

"Pesky?" Biana glared at him. She and Dex fell into battle stances and rushed them.

"Wait! Stop!" Sophie's warning came too late.

Before they reached him, the tips of Ruy's fingers glowed, creating a shimmering blue force field around him. They collided with it and bounced off, hitting the ground with enough force to make Sophie wince.

Tam had stayed behind with Sophie, and with a burst of Shadowflux, shattered his force field, a small smile playing on his lips.

"Subdue them!" Ruy hissed to his two accomplices. They advanced on Biana and Dex, who were still groaning in pain. Just as they were about to pounce, Biana yelped in surprise and grabbed Dex's arm, both of them vanishing from sight.

Ruy then turned his attention to Sophie and Tam, creating another force field except around Sophie and Tam this time. Tam promptly destroyed it.

"We need a plan. Let's take out Ruy first." Sophie said. Tam discreetly nodded. Drawing her daggers, she hurled them at Ruy.

With a deft arrogance, Ruy dodged the blades, and they clattered to the ground.

He chuckled under his breath. "Do you think you can keep this up forever? I've had far more training than you. You'll run out of energy eventu-" Ruy's taunts ceased as he toppled over, as if struck in the head, yet there was nothing there.

Sophie glanced at Tam. "What? Tam, did you..." He shook his head, equally surprised.

Biana and Dex materialized, standing over him, holding the daggers that had missed before. "Is he... unconscious?" Dex nudged Ruy's body with his foot. He groaned in response, causing them to jump back in surprise.

"Stop gawking! There's still two more!" Tam pointed, and they spun around to confront them.

Biana vanished once more, then Dex, as she grabbed his hand. "Grab each other's hands so we can escape." Dex said, as the Neverseen Members attempted to capture them. They all grabbed hands, disappearing in an instant, and bolted out the door, slamming it shut behind them.

In the corridor, Sophie found guards who appeared unconscious, or so she hoped. Three cloaked figures burst through the door. Ruy grimacing as he rubbed at his temples. "They could be anywhere. Fan out!"

The four of them backed up against the wall so they wouldn't bump into them by accident. The Neverseen members scattered in both directions.

Once they were gone, they released a collective sigh of relief. "More of them will come. We should just stay invisible and evacuate," Biana said in a no-nonsense tone.
