It took her longer than she wanted to admit, realizing Gethen hadn't recognized her, and to register he was speaking. "I hadn't expected to see any more Black Swan members, considering most of them had already evacuated."

Sophie turned to escape, but Gethen grabbed her hands. She struggled against his grip. "Where are you running off to? You're coming with me."

She sank further into her hood. "Um..." Sophie could not respond; Gethen would recognize her voice.

"Going where?" She said, mimicking a mellow voice.

"To be interrogated," Gethen said, as though it was obvious.

He stormed off, dragging Sophie by the hand. She tried to wrangle it free, but his telekinesis held strong. Not to mention her hand felt more crushed the more she struggled.

On the way, he demanded answers. "Tell me, where has Sophie gone?"

"Uhm, I only know where she last was! Just let my hand go..."

Gethen pulled away, slowing his pace. "Fine then, tell me."

"Well, I heard her scream like bloody murder... so I don't know if she's still alive."

"I guess he was telling the truth..." Gethen said under his breath. "What's your name?" Sophie froze. I didn't think this far ahead! "Never mind, you would just tell me some code name, anyway."

Sophie held in her sigh of relief. Gethen thought for a moment. "Have you ever even met Sophie before?"

"No! I've never met Sophie." Sophie said too quickly.

They stood in silence before Gethen sighed. "I'm still taking you in."

Sophie gulped. Gethen moved to take her. "I'll just follow behind..." she said, still nursing her poor hand.

"Stay in front of me where I can see you." Gethen pushed her.

Reaching a door, Gethen gestured to open it. She observed the scene, with Fintan as the sole person present, busy writing on paper.

"Where's the rest of them?" Sophie struggled to maintain her mimicking, wanting nothing but to curl into a ball.

Fintan glanced at them. "Rest of who?"

"Didn't the Neverseen capture other Black Swan members?"

Fintan opened his mouth, but Gethen answered before him. "No, they were quite swift in their evacuation, despite us knowing the layout. Did you not get the memo?"

"No, they never bother telling me anything!" Sophie said, realizing she had said it with too much passion. The silence stretched on for what felt too long.

"Anyway, Fintan, since Gisela demoted you, you'll have to watch over her."

"What!" He stood up, paper flying off. "But anyone could do that!" Fintan pouted.

"Exactly." Gethen let the words settle in, moving to block the exit.

Sophie glanced at Fintan, grumbling about Gisela not appreciating his efforts.

He noticed she was still there. Sophie held her breath. Fintan went to pick up the paper, stuffing it in his pocket. "Ugh, what's your name, or codename, or whatever."

"Uh... um..." She glanced between the two of them. Each second that Sophie didn't respond, the more tense she became.

It didn't help that the way Fintan stared into her eyes, like he was seeing past them into her soul, squinting his eyes, she shivered and he looked back at his paper.
