Gym Bug Type Referee: The Gym Battle between Alain, the Challenger, and Viola, the Santalune Gym Leader will now begin!

Gym Bug Type Referee: Each side will have the use of two Pokemon and the Battle will be over when either Trainer's Pokemon are unable to continue! Only the Challenger may Substitute Pokemon!
Viola: My lens is always focused on Victory, no matter what! Surskit, go!
As Viola called out her first Pokemon, Mairin looked it up in her Pokedex!
Surskit: Surskit!
Mairin: A Surskit, huh?
Chespie: Ches?
Mairin's Pokedex: Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokemon... Surskit can walk on Water as if it was skating... It attracts Prey with the sweet aroma it produces!
Alain: My first Kalos Gym Battle...
As Ash and the others cheered for Alain, Mairin and Alexa both knew that Alain couldn't let his Guard down!
Clemont: You guys ready to cheer?
Bonnie: Yeah!
Both: Go get 'em, Alain!

Ash: I can't wait to see Alain in action for the first time!

As the Two Siblings watched nervously with the Pokemon, Ash asked Pikachu to pay close attention!

But as Chespie and Pikachu both cheered, Mairin asked her friend to not let his Guard down!
Chespie: Chespin-Pin, Pin Ches!
Mairin(Thinking): Alain... Please promise me that you won't let your Guard down!
Alain frowned, asking Mairin to watch closely so that he could show both her and Chespie how to Battle!
Alain(Thinking): Watch closely, Mairin... And I'll show both you and Chespie how to Battle!
Mairin: Hmm...
Alain chose his Charmander to go first, causing Mairin and the others to discuss that there was more to winning a Battle than just with Type Advantages and Disadvantages!
Alain: Hey Charmander, are you ready to go?
Charmander: Char?
Mairin: Alain's using Charmander!
Alexa: But Charmander is at a Disadvantage since Surskit's a Water Type!
Helioptile: Tile...
Ash: While that may be true that your Sister's Surskit has an Advantage over a Fire Type like Alain's Charmander, Viola's Surskit is still a Bug-Type, which Charmander has a huge advantage over!
Everyone: Huh?
Dedenne: Ded
Helioptile: Tile?
Pikachu: Pika...
Mairin: Ash's right, you guys! So despite of both their Pokemon having an Advantage and a Disadvantage over the other...
Chespie: Ches?
Mairin: There's more than one way to win a Gym Battle with a Type Advantage!
The Gym Battle between Alain and Viola then started, with Surskit using Sticky Web!
Chespie: Ches...
Beldum: Beld...
Gym Bug Type Referee: Now, Battle Begin!
Viola: Alright Surskit, use Sticky Web!
Luckily, Alain had Charmander dodge them while using its Ember Attack!
Surskit: Surskit!
Alain: Dodge it, Charmander!
Charmander: Char, Char, Char, Char!
Viola watched with shock while Ash and the others were amazed by the way Charmander was burning the Sticky Webs while dodging them at the exact same time
Viola: Aah!
Alexa: Wow!
Mairin: Amazing!
Both: Ches!/Heil
Ash: Yeah, Charmander's using its Ember Attack on them, while dodging the Sticky Webs at the exact same time!
Pikachu: Pika!
Alain then commanded Charmander to use Flamethrower, which Surskit countered with Protect!
Alain: Now Charmander, use Flamethrower!
Charmander: Char, Char, Charmander!
Viola: Surskit, Protect!
Surskit: Surskit!
Viola then told Surskit to use Signal Beam, which Charmander countered with Ember after dodging it!
Viola: Signal Beam, go!
Surskit: Sur... Skit!
Alain: Dodge it and then use Ember!!
Charmander: Char! Charmander! Char!
This time, Charmander's Attack lands a direct hit, much to everyone's shock and amazement!
Surskit: Surskit! Surskit...
Viola: (Gasps) Surskit...
Mairin: All right! Yay!
Chespie: Ches!
Bonnie: Charmander is really doing well!
Dedenne: Dedenne!
Clemont: Yeah...
Ash: Alain sure knows how to use his Charmander's Fire Attacks and its other Moves really well!
Pikachu: Pika!
But that's when Viola caught Alain off guard by using Ice Beam on the Battlefield!
Viola: This is where it begins... Now Surskit, let's refocus this Battle and use Ice Beam on the Battlefield!
Surskit does so as Alain tells Charmander to dodge it quickly!
Surskit: Sur... Skit!
Alain: Charmander, dodge it, quickly!
Charmander does his best to do so, but is knocked off its feet as the Battlefield froze up, much to everyone's concern!
Charmander: Char, Char, Char, Char, Char! Char...
Alain: Charmander!
Everyone: Huh?
Chespie: Chespin!
Pikachu: Pika-Pika!
Alain knew from the way that Charmander was struggling to get up, that outsmarting Viola would not be as easy as he thought it would be!
Alain: (Grunts)
