Ash(V.O.): A Blustery Santalune Gym Battle!
Back inside the Gym, Mairin's first Kalos Gym Battle was about to start!
Bug-Type-Gym Referee: The Gym Battle between Mairin, the Challenger, and Viola, the Santalune Gym Leader will now begin!
Bonnie: (Giggling)
Bug-Type-Gym Referee: Each side will have the use of two Pokemon, and the Battle will be over when either Trainer's Pokemon are unable to continue! Only the Challenger may Substitute Pokemon!
Just then, both Alain and Ash arrived just as Viola called out her Surskit!
Both: Sorry that we're late!
Charmander: Char!
Pikachu: Pika!
Viola: My Lens will always be focused on Victory, no matter what! Surskit, go!
Surskit: Surskit!
Mairin smirked, she's been looking forward to this Match for quite a while!
Mairin: My first Gym Battle as a Pokemon Trainer...
Alain and the others cheered her on, while knowing that this won't be easy for her!
Alexa: You guys ready to cheer?
Clemont: Yeah!
Bonnie: Go get 'em, Mairin!
Pikachu: Pika-Pika!
Dedenne: Dedenne!
Ash: I can't wait to see Mairin in her First Gym Battle as a Pokemon Trainer!
Alain: That Viola is no doubt going to use the same strategy that she used on me during our Gym Battle... Won't be easy!
Alexa: Hmm...

Pikachu: Pika...
Alain(Thinking): Mairin... Please don't let your Guard down!

Mairin chose her Chespie to go next, which Alexa thought Surskit was super effective against! But like Mairin, both Ash and Alain knew better!
Mairin: Hey Chespie, are you ready to go?
Chespie: Ches!
Alain: Mairin's using her Chespie!
Alexa: But Chespie is at a disadvantage since Surskit's a Bug-Type!
Heliopitile: Tile...
Alain: While that may be true that your Sister's Surskit has an Advantage over a Gras-Type like Mairin's Chespie, Viola'sSurskit is still a Water-Type, which Chespie has a huge advantage over!
All Three: Huh?!
Dedenne: Ded?
Helioptile: Tile?
Pikachu: Pika...
Ash: Alain's right, you guys! So despite of both their Pokemon having both an Advantage and a Disadvantage over the the other...
Alain: Hmm?
Charmander: Char?
Ash: Mairin did say during your Match that there's more than one way to win a Gym Battle with a Type Advantage, Alain!
Pikachu: Pika-Pi...
Both: Char.../Bunnelby...
And with that, the Bug Type Referee started the Match!
Bug-Type-Gym Referee: Now, Battle Begin!
Viola made the First Move, telling Surskit to use Sticky Web!
Viola: Alright Surskit, use Sticky Web!
Mairin tells Chespie to dodge it; while Chespie did while using Pin Missile, much to Viola's shock and her friends's amazement!
Mairin: Dodge it, Chespie!
Surskit: Surskit!
Chespie: Ches, Ches, Ches, Ches!
Viola: Aah!
Both: Wow!
Alexa: Amazing!
Charmander: Char!
Alain: Yeah, Chespie's using its Pin Missile Attack on the Webs while dodging them at the exact same time!
Ash: Talk about a great counterstrike being the fast one!
Pikachu: Pika!
Mairin then told Chespie to use Vine Whip!
Mairin: Now Chespie! Use Vine Whip!
Chespie: Ches, Ches, Chespin!
Viola told Surskit to use Protect and then use Signal Beam!
Viola: Surskit, Protect!
Surskit: Surskit!
Viola: Signal Beam, go!
Surskit: Sur... Skit!
Mairin tells Chespie to dodge Surskit's Signal Beam and then use Pin Missile!
Mairin: Dodge it and then use Pin Missile!
Chespie did so, before its Pin Missile scored a Direct Hit against Surskit before its Signal Beam hit its Mark; causing Surskit to fall back a little bit, much to Viola's concern!
Chespie: Ches! Chespin! Ches!
Surskit: Surskit! Surskit...
Viola: (Gasps) Surskit...
Alain and the others cheered Mairin on, knowing that the Rookie was doing great for her first Kalos Gym Battle!
Bonnie: All right! Yay!
Clemont: Chespie is really doing well!
Dedenne: Dedenne!
Charmander: Char!
Ash: Yeah...
Alain: Mairin sure knows to use both her Chespie's Grass and Bug Attacks really well, and that's saying something since it's only her first Gym Battle!
Pikachu: Pika!
But that's when Viola unleashed her Ice Battlefield Combo!
Viola: This is where it begins... Now Surskit! Let's refocus this Battle and use Ice Beam on the Battlefield!
Seeing the quick Ice Beam Rays that were hitting the Battlefield, Mairin told Chespie to dodge them quickly!
Surskit: Sur... Kit!
Mairin: Chespie, dodge it, quickly!
Chespie moved as quickly as it could, but was blown off its feet by the Ice covering up the Battlefield, much to its Trainer's and everyone else's concern!
Chespie: Ches, Ches, Ches, Ches, Ches! Ches...
Mairin: Chespie!
Everyone: (Gasps)
Charmander: Charmander!
Dedenne: Dedenne!
Pikachu: Pika-Pika!
Mairin frowned at her struggling Partner, knowing that this would be anything but an easy Match!
Chespie: (Grunts)
Mairin: (Groans)
