Bondita
"Vansh let's go..." I yelled at Vansh who was busy stuffing his face with samosas
"Shona beta go, she is standing at the door for five minutes now..." Maa said patting Vansh's head who scowled looking at me and stood up
"A person can't even eat peacefully because of your dumbass.." Vansh said scowling and received a slap from Raghu Bhai
"Watch your language.." Raghu Bhai said and Vansh walked out making faces and I followed behind
We walked in silence with Vansh huffing every once in a while
"Aren't you excited today to meet Dhani?" I asked him raising my brows
"It's not like that, I just don't feel like going today.." he said gulping nervously and I gave him a suspicious look
Shrugging off everything we continued walking and once attaining to Anirudh Sir's house I rang bell of the front door
The door got open after five minutes and we were met with a puffy eyed Dhani whose cheeks were all red and eyes swollen she looked like she had been crying
"Bhai isn't home today Bondita, you should go home.." she said hoarsely and was about to close the door when Vansh kept his hand in the middle and opened the door
"What's wrong?" He asked stepping forward
"Nothing, you should go home.." she said again but Vansh entered inside and I followed behind him
"What's wrong Dhani? You can tell me.." I asked her softly taking her hands in mine and then a sob left her mouth as she hugged me tightly crying on my shoulder
"Maa..Maa fainted suddenly, Bhai..Bhai took her hospital..I..I am scared Bondita..I don't wanna lose her.." she mumbled sobbing on my shoulders and I held her tightly
"Shh..shh.. don't cry.. don't cry.. everything will be fine Dhani, nothing will happen to your Maa, she will be fine and healthy..hmm.. don't cry.." I said rubbing her back while Vansh stood behind her patting her head
After sometime she calmed down and hiccuped Vansh brought a glass of water and handed her, we were now sitting on the sofa, I rubbed her arms comfortingly when we heard growling of her stomach and she ducked her head in embarrassment
"Is there something to eat Dhani?" I asked her gently keeping a hand on her head
"I..I don't know how to cook, Bhai said he will cook after coming but he didn't return yet.." she mumbled softly and I nodded
"I will make something then, you sit here and don't think much ok? everything will be fine.." I said and walked to the kitchen
Looking around a little I decided to make cabbage and chapatti for now..
It took me almost half an hour but everything was ready so I went to call Dhani, I smiled softly looking at the scene in front of me, Dhani's head was leaning on Vansh's shoulder while he side hugged her and stroked her hairs talking to her
"Dhani, come food is ready.." I said startling them and she stood up slowly following behind me
Washing her hands she sat on the dining table while I served her, and to keep her company I served a little to Vansh and myself she smiled greatfully looking at me and got busy in eating..
After we were done eating she helped me in cleaning and then we sat down to watch some movie to keep her distracted, although she asked us a lot of time to not worry about her and go home but my heart wouldn't have been in peace if we have left..
Halfway through the movie Dhani slept keeping her head on Vansh's shoulder I turned the tv off and Vansh layed her down on the couch..
Looking at her pale face I felt bad, she is so young and has to go through all this..sighing I covered her with a blanket that was kept in a corner
I decided to study on my own and sat down on the floor with my books while Vansh got busied on his phone
Post a hour later the door bell rang, and I stood up to open the door
Opening the door I was met with a extremely tired looking Anirudh sir, his eyes were red, hairs messy and shirt wrinkled, he looked at me and entered inside
"Dhani?" He asked me tiredly removing his shoes
"She slept.." I answered
"She must be hungry I will make food for her.." he said rolling up his sleeves
"I did..I made food for her and she ate before sleeping.." I said and he ran a hand through his hair
he nodded before going to his room
I wanted to ask him about his mother but looking at him it was clear that he didn't want to talk about anything right now so I let him be..
Walking to the kitchen I kept the food to be heated and by the time I was taking it out he was entering in the kitchen freshened up
"You don't have to Bondita, what you did is already enough.." he said taking the plate from me and sitting on the dinning table
He ate silently while something clicked in my mind and I scurried inside the kitchen, and prepared khichdi..
Finishing his meal he came in the kitchen and went to the basin
"What are you making?" He asked raising his brows while washing his plate
"Khichdi, uh for aunty, she won't have difficulty in eating that.." I said fidgeting and he stopped for a second before looking at me
"Thankyou.." he whispered and I nodded avoiding to look at him
I do not like that helpless and lost look in his face
"Bhai?" Dhani called entering inside the kitchen and Anirudh sir hugged her kissing on her forehead
"Don't worry Dhani, everything will be alright..hmm..Maa will come back healthy.." he whispered on her hair and she nodded
"I will have to go again Bacha, I will have to be with Maa so I can get doctors medicine whenever they need, you will take care of yourself here na, I will keep coming back every once in a while to cook food and everything just take care of yourself..hmm..just for a while.." he said keeping a hand on her head
"I will take care of myself Bhai, don't worry I will be responsible.." she said determinedly and I felt proud at her
"My strong Bacha.." he said kissing on her forehead
I immediately packed the khichdi in a tiffin and handed it over to him he thanked me once again and left hurriedly on his bike
"You both should go now, it will be dark in a while.." Dhani said looking at me and Vansh
I didn't feel good about leaving her alone at night, but I also knew that my parents wouldn't allow us to stay at someone else's house..maybe Dhani saw the look on my face because she spoke up
"Don't worry I will lock the door and windows and I will eat the food you have made..I will be fine.." she said smiling at me
Before leaving I hugged her tightly and told her not to worry and call me if anything needed..
Vansh too moved forward and hugged her softly I smiled and waving her bye we left..
