Nine

Only minutes passed but it felt like hours. I broke eye contact, looking at the sky.

"Hey L, look!" I said while pointing up.

"The sky?"

"Yeah, it looks so beautiful..."

"Here we can star gaze if you'd like."

My eyes lit up as I smiled at him. I sat down, and shortly after he did too. The soft grass below me was amazing to feel on my hands. It was cold, but it felt nice. The wind blew through my hair, something I've never felt before.

I felt something touch me, as I looked over to L pacing his jacket around me. It was soft, and looked hand made. It wasn't a standard jacket style; it was like a mixture of a cape and a jacket. It kept me warm though.

Hours passed, as the sun started to rise.

"Oh shit! Felix is going to know I'm gone. If I go back now, he might kill me."

"Hey hey it's alright."

A moment passed before he spoke up.

"Come with me. Come to my home."

He gave a soft smile as my eyes lit up.

"Really!?

I hugged him the tightest I ever could.

"Thank you, L!"

"Lucien."

"Huh?"

"Call me Lucien."

"I- ok! So, Lucien. How far is this 'home' of yours?"

"Not too far! A couple miles south."

He picked me up and started walking. I laughed as I held onto him tight. He really is my hope. I was amazed by all the beautiful things. The little winged creatures flying, bright colored flowers, the leaves falling to the ground.

Time flew by fast. I smiled as I looked over to see a beautiful place. It had some older looking buildings everywhere, and people dressed in all black. I'm assuming most people were in bed considering It was almost midnight, but there were still a few couple people out.

"Welcome to my kingdom."

He said with a smile.

"It's so beautiful. Wait kingdom--"

"Excuse me?"

I jumped. I was interrupted by a woman, who was also dressed in black.

"Who do you think you are? Wearing that?"

She asked me, looking up and down. As soon as she said that she looked up and immediately bowed.

"What do you mean, what's wrong with what I'm wearing? And why are you bowing...?"

I asked, very confused. I mean I wasn't high in power anymore and no one knows that I was.

"I mean you're wearing his jacket! Newcomers can't just come in and claim people like that you must fight!! He's mine!"

She glared at me, while still bowing. I looked up at Lucien in confusion. He just had some smirk on him face while staring at the lady. She stood up and looked at me.

"Why aren't you bowing! Did anyone teach you manners!?"

"I'm sorry, who are we bowing for exactly?"

I said while looking around. There wasn't anyone else nearby other than the lady and Lucien.

"What do you mean!? The prince is right there!!"

I looked around with a confused look. I went to say something before I was cut off.

"Ma'am what have we told you about harassing others?"

"Sir I'm-"

"And did I say you could stop bowing either?"

"N-no sir"

"Now. Run off to your room and leave my girlfriend alone."

What did he just say!? I was flustered, and I think it showed. Once I realized what just happened, I looked up at the woman's face. She not only seemed confused but pissed at me. And 'sir'? When was he going to tell me he's a prince? I stood there quietly as the woman ran off deeper into the castle.

"What just happened-"

there's so much going on in my brain I have so many questions.
