As I stared at the paper, I took a deep breath. All the thinking made my head hurt worse than it did before. I slipped the note under my pillow, before standing up quickly. I had forgotten about the glass. I let out a yelp in pain, feeling the sharp pain shoot through my leg and up through my body. I tumbled against the wall, letting out another wince. I heard footsteps approaching my door, which caused me to turn my head.
It was Felix. I watched as he slammed the door open with a menacing grin.
“Oh, I see you’re doing better!”
He spoke, as his grin widened when he saw me. That was until he looked at my leg, then looked shocked as he sat next to me.
“You didn’t do this yourself… right?”
Why would he care, he’s the one who did this to me. Typical of him to hurt me then act surprised when he sees the consequences.
“No, I didn’t. I got up and it was already in my leg, I-I didn’t know what to do with it-”
“Shh, don’t you panic. If you’re telling the truth, you’ve done nothing wrong. Remember what happened last time you tried to hurt yourself? That didn’t end well, did it? You better not be lying to me.”
He placed his hand on my cheek while staring deeply in my eyes. The sinister look he had would be enough to scare anyone. I flinched once I felt the cold touch of his hand on my face.
“I won’t hurt you… is that what you’ve made me out to be? A monster?”
I didn’t know what to do, nor say. He always hurt me, so why would he say that? Yet he’s so easy to believe. He placed his hand over the glass and leaned his face closer to mine.
“Do you trust me?”
I don’t, but what would happen if I said no? I nodded, while looking at him not wanting to find out.
“Close your eyes.”
I nodded, quickly closing my eyes. He placed his left hand on the back of my head, pulling me closer. He kissed me. He kept a firm grip on the back of my head, preventing me from moving away.
On the other side, his right hand pulled out the thick glass shard. He pulled it out slowly and painfully, almost like he was going slow on purpose. It was a big piece, no way that would have gotten in my leg by itself.
The kiss muffled my screams of pain, with tears rolling down my face. Rivers flowing from my eyes. The pool of water rolled down my neck it gathered on my ripped up, stained shirt. The only shirt that I was allowed to have. After the shard of glass was finally out of my thigh, the kiss kept going. I tried to pull away from him, but he was too strong, and kept me in place.
Finally, after a few moments, he broke the kiss while he investigating my red, watery eyes.
“It worked now, didn’t it?”
I nodded my head then went to look at the wound on my leg. My gaze didn’t avert far, as he grabbed my face, turning my head back to him.
“Don’t look at it, it will only make the pain worse. Look at me.”
He said in a demanding tone. He pulled out bandages from his pocket, like he knew this would happen. Like this was all planned.
“You can look now, you won’t be able to walk for a bit, lay down and rest your eyes.”
He started to walk towards the door.
“Felix-”
“Yes dear?”
Oh, how that name makes me so uncomfortable.
“Can- … Never mind I’m sorry-!”
Shit, he hates apologies! I forgot. I felt a wave of anxiety pass through my body, while closing my eyes tightly. My body tensed up, waiting for impact. Moments passed, as nothing happened. I was hesitant, but my eye slowly opened. I watched as the door unlatched, and relatched. I watched him walk out with a deep chuckle, but why? I sat on my bed confused, with many thoughts racing through my head. Why didn’t he hit me, was he in a good mood? Or was this his plan all along. Nothing was making sense, as many pieces were missing.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my mind, but it only ended in more confusion, and exhaustion. I laid back, as my eyes had fallen, putting me in a deep trance.
