She was pushed against me, with my arms wrapped around her. It was cold, but my body heat kept her warm. It seemed to be early at night, due to the moon being at its highest peak.
I woke up to a strange feeling in the air. It felt stiff and muggy, and not like the normal thin feeling it normally has. It was different, a little too different.
I sat up, looking around to see kamilla bundled up. The temperature has dropped, almost below freezing. I fixed the blanket, wrapping her up.
The temperature change had to have been noticeable for her, as she had gripped the blanket., pulling it closer to herself. I got up, placing a small, yet soft kiss on her head. Her hair was as soft as silk, while her skin was as cold as ice.
I placed my blanket on top of her as well, placing a small kiss on her hand.
“God I’m so in love with this girl.”
I whispered, not wanting to wake her up.
I looked around, to see gowns and shirts on the floor, pairs of shoes scattered, an arrow flying past the window, the rug being twisted—wait an arrow!?
I shot my head in the direction that the arrow had come from, to see the window had been open. I ran towards the open breeze, but no one was to be seen.
I smelt a new smell, almost like metal, and mud. I grabbed my cape and mask running towards the door. My bag had been hanging on a hat stand, as I grabbed that as well. Everything I needed had already been stored in there.
I placed my mask on my head, looking at Kamilla one last time. I placed my lips, connecting with her nose, with my hand on her cheek, rubbing my thumb along it. I swiftly ran out the door, making sure to make no noise.
I ran fast down the hallway; the carpet was stiff underneath my feet. There had been a rock wall following the hallway. As I got towards the end, I placed a couple fingers on the stones, searching for the correct ones.
The stones were rough, as I lined my fingers up with specific rocks, softly pressing down. A small hidden stone door opened, leading to an old wooden staircase outside.
It was dark. The clouds had covered the sky almost like a painting. Light from the moon and stars had been faint, shining down onto the ground.
I stepped foot on the dew-covered grass. The air felt thick, with the clouds making it hard to see. An arrow, shot inches from my head, with the
wind flowing through my hair.
I immediately ducked, grabbing my knife, and running towards a nearby tree. I listened, waiting for another indicator. Where were they?
There it was. A rustle!
I ran, throwing myself in between trees. I managed to get close to the being, they were wearing a mask, with two small glowing holes near the eyes. The being looked around, spinning in circles around me.
I placed my hand on the grass, this black smoke rose above the ground, filling the area around us. I stood in front of the being, though all that could be seen from me was a pair of glowing red eyes.
I smirked, red lines appeared all over my skin, almost in a cracked like look. I growled, before grabbing my dagger, passing through and around him at the speed of light. Red lines appeared on the being, before their body split apart.
Thud. His body fell, and yet I could still sense someone else here. Assassins of many kinds came running in through the smoke. It was dark, I was barely able to see anything.
I closed my eyes, listening to their footsteps. One by one, the assassins got closer by the second.
Then, there it was. The first sword flew towards me. I dodged it, digging my dagger into their stomach as hard as possible. Blood spurt out of their mouth. Then another one came. I pulled my dagger out before slicing the others throat.
Once the air finally went silent, I heard a crunch. A light footstep was placed, but it wasn’t like the others. It was quiet and cautious, but not enough for it to be them.
It didn’t matter, I was blood thirsty.
I held my breath, trying to sense where this new being was. I heard a faint scream, and that is when I locked onto their location. I jumped onto, and leaped through the trees, forcing my dagger to turn into a scythe. It was dark outside, and even harder to see due to the thick smoke seeping around, but luckily my skin let off just enough light for me to see.
I heard the voice again, yet this time it sounded like they were yelling something, but it was to muffled for me to understand. As I got closer, I saw them. They were trapped in a net made from rope.
I smirked, knowing this could be the last kill. I jumped down, crawling on top of my newly found prey. I growled, lifting my hand up to see it’s last reaction before death. That was until I realized it was her.
I snapped out of it, looking at her in fear. What would she think of me now? I crawled off of her, before cutting the rope off of her leg. I couldn’t bear the thought of her seeing me like this any longer, so I ran, just far enough that she couldn’t see me, but I could see her. I heard heavy footsteps running, but I couldn’t let her get away.
With quick thinking, my scythe turned into a tranquilizer. I shot a small dart into her neck. I waited until my skin turned back to normal, before I ran over to her.
“I’m sorry Kamilla.”
