As we were all processing what Shelly said, a huge hoard of zombies appeared out of nowhere! We hadn't seen them from far away or anything, they just suddenly showed up!

We could handle one zombie easily at this point, but this was the first hoard we'd seen! There was no way in a million years we could deal with all of them and make it out alive!

So we only had one option...

"RUN!" I screamed. I yelled it so loud and so high-pitched, I doubt that anyone could tell exactly what I said, but we all got the message loud and clear.

For a second, just a second, I considered something horrible... What if I jumped in towards the zombies? What if I turned around, or just stopped running? I could die, which is exactly what I felt like doing, and if I distracted them, I might have let everyone else escape. No... I can't have that mindset! I must remain strong!

With newfound determination, I ran as fast as my legs would take me, as did everyone else. Kelly was running so fast that I have no idea how she didn't trip!

Then I heard a scream...

Who's scream was that?

Don't let it be Martin, Nick or Kelly. Please don't let it be Shelly or Shaun...

I needed them. Please let it just be someone from a distance.

...

It sounded like Shaun...

I dared to turn my head around for a moment, just a moment. But that moment was dreadful...

Shaun, on the ground... screaming... covered in wet, red blood... his own blood, with a zombie on top of him biting his face and neck... it was so awful to witness. You could see the desperation and panic in his eyes and face even from just a glance. Poor guy was clearly in so much pain...

All the new determination left my soul as quickly as I got it seeing that image...I almost collapsed, but I kept running.

It felt like my fault... If I had done something... If I had sacrificed myself...

It's... not... my... fault...
