Drugged

Zoe's POV

After we both finished I collapsed on Ryker's chest. He chuckled and moved my hair from my face. "I'm tired," I said with a yawn. "We can go to sleep," said Ryker in a tired voice. He kisses my temple as I burrow into his warm strength. A few moments later I'm asleep. The following morning I'm surprised to wake up alone. I get dressed and walk into the dinning room. My blood turns cold when I see Victoria cuddled up against Ryker. She isn't supposed to be here.

"What the hell is going on here?" I said as my eyebrows furrowed. Ryker turns to me with a dazed look in his eyes and I know something isn't right. "I've finally gotten Ryker to realize that you're not worthy of him," said Victoria. I keep my eyes on Ryker. "He's going to leave you and marry me instead," she said. I felt my branding numb which wasn't normal. My blood boils with anger as I glare at Victoria. Then I turn to Ryker who looks at me like I'm a stranger. Aiden stands behind them with a bewildered look on his face.

"Victoria showed up this morning claiming she's our new dragoness," said Aiden. "Ryker, what's going on?" I asked not to believe her. I take a step toward him. Victoria leans in and whispers to Ryker.  "Zoe's your enemy. She manipulated you into making her your dragoness" she said. "Yes Zoe's my enemy" said Ryker like a robot. "Ryker, look at me. Victoria is lying to you" I said concerned. His unfazed eyes looked down at me. "I'm your dragoness and your wife" I said softly. "Not anymore. He hates you. Don't you" said Victoria. "Yes I hate Zoe" said Ryker oddly.

Victoria must have drugged Ryker. My branding isn't feeling normal. "We need to kill Zoe immediately," said Victoria. "You can't just kill her. She's our official dragoness. There are laws" said Aiden, confused. Victoria turns to Aiden and says "Ryker is the law." "No, he's our dragon lord and our leader but we don't execute anyone without a trial" said Aiden standing up for me. "Take Zoe to the dungeon. We need to torture her and find out what she knows" said Ryker with an unfamiliar tone I never heard of. This wasn't him at all. Where is my Ryker?

"Ryker no," I said. "Great idea lord Ryker. I'll happily torture Zoe" said victoria like she didn't just tell him to say that. "You have no power here. You can't torture me" I said. This wasn't her flight. Her father's flight is far away from here. She can't even be on these grounds. "I can with Ryker's permission" said Victoria. Matysa and Sasha enter along with the rest of the flight. "What the hell?" said Matysa. "Victoria drugged Ryker" I said to Ryker's brother. "He seems different," said Aiden. I was glad he saw something wrong too. "How dare you. I would never hurt Ryker" said Victoria. That was far from the truth and I knew Ryker never wanted anything to do with her.

"Victoria's been an ally for years. I don't think she'd hurt Ryker" said Sasha. "Ryker trusts me don't you?" said Victoria as she looked at the flight. Ryker turns to Victoria with a blank stare. "Yes I trust you Victoria" said Ryker, still not sounding like himself. She leans up and kisses him on the cheek. Rage flows through my veins. "Ryker only trusts you because you drugged him," I said laughing. She glares daggers at me. "How terrible of a person are you that you need to drug someone so they'll be with you?" I said. "Zoe killed your sister and your father Ryker and now she's here to kill you" she pleads with him as the dragon flight listens in.

Ryker lunges at me with a snarl. His hands wrap around my throat as he pushes me against the wall. "Ryker stop," I say, grabbing his hands. His eyes are cold and distant as he squeezes harder. Victoria cruelly smiles. "Yes, kill her Ryker" said Victoria as it was getting hard to breathe. Ryker's not himself. I need to stay alive long enough to break whatever this hold Victoria has over him. I go limo in his arms. As soon as his grips on my neck loose I swing my arm and elbow him in the cheek. Ryker lets go of my neck and steps back.

"It's to the dungeon for you" growled Ryker as he held his cheek. "Wait Ryker," said Aiden. He tries to grab Ryker's arm but Ryker knocks him to the ground. "Get off old man. You let this happen" said Ryker out of control. At least Aiden tried to defend me. Maybe he's more trustworthy than I originally thought. "Aiden defending Zoe means you can't be trusted either" said victoria. Aiden looks at me and then steps back. He was scared because of her. "You're on your own, dragoness Zoe" said Ryker, bowing his head. This was a fight over more than territory. "Don't you dare call her that. I will be your dragoness. Zoe is an imposter" said Victoria.

I rack my brain scrambling for a way out of this mess. Our mate bond if anything will break Ryker out of his stupor it's our bond. We didn't want anyone to know about our mate bond but I have no choice. My and Ryker's lives depend on this. I push Victoria to the ground as I wrap my arms around Ryker and press my lips to his. As soon as my lips touch his angry hands on my hips soften. Deepening the kiss I hold him close, willing him to feel our bond. Then I press my lips to his ear. "It's me Ryker your dragon mate" I said hoping this works.

Suddenly the dazed look in Ryker's eyes goes away. He shakes his head as he stares at me. "What happened?" asked Ryker as he looked like he was dizzy. I felt our mate bond just like I did before. Ryker has come back to me. I was so happy to see his blue stormy eyes staring back at me. He may be confused from what I felt from my bond but I didn't care he was safely back to me just like once before.
