Potion

Zoe's POV

Noah and Emily pause and give each other a look. "It probably won't even work on me because of my power" I said holding my anger. "What power? That mate stuff is just a legend anyway" said Emily unbothered. "No it's not" I said, shaking my head with a laugh. "It hasn't made you stronger since you're here chained," said Emily, looking down at me. She knew I had power.

"You have no idea the depth of my power," I said with a smile. The chains moved every time I did. Emily slaps me hard across the face. "Shut up bitch. You always thought you were better than everyone" said Emily. I do the only thing I can think of, which is spit in her face. "That's what I think of you," I said, still smiling. Emily grabs me by the neck ready to kill me but Noah stops her. "Not yet" said Noah dangerously at Emily.

"Give her the potion" said Emily, aggravated. Noah pulls my head back and forces my mouth open. Emily pours the sweet liquid down my throat. I tried screaming and fighting against the chains. Tears fell down my eyes heavily. As soon as it hits my stomach my eyes dilate and I get dizzy. "Now let's see if the potion is working," said Noah, grinning at me.

"Ask her something you know she'd lie about" said Emily. "Zoe, I've heard dragon mates can mindlink. Can you mindlink with Ryker?" Noah asked. Every bone in my body wants to say no but the potion is too strong. "Yes Ryker and I can mindlink" I said defeated. Emily lets out a cruel laugh as she gets closer to me. "Can you mindlink with him now?" Asked Noah.

"No I can't mindlink Ryker from this torture room" I said involuntarily. "Now tell us how to get into Ryker's flight house?" Asked Emily as she looked into my eyes. "I don't want to. You'll kill all of his dragons" I said, fighting it back. Emily takes a knife and slices me across my stomach. "Tell me now" she yelled over my pain. The potion is intense as it messes with my brain. Taking a deep breath I summon all my dragon power.

I am the dragoness and Ryker's true mate. I'm powerful enough to fight against this potion. I try to use everything I have screaming at the unbelievable pain. I push myself harder not to be able to take it. I breathe fire but it cuts short and my body feels weak. I lost everything I had. I couldn't fight like that anymore.

I blurted out "the easiest way into the flight house is the kitchen door. The staff uses it so much it's hard to track who's coming in and out." "Which bedroom is Ryker's?" Asked Emily now beaming at my weakness. I felt defeated but I kept my head high. I was going to kill them no matter the cost. They won't win. "He's at the end of the third floor" I say through gritted teeth. After another hour of answering all of their questions they take me back to my cell. The following morning Noah and Emily bring me to the courtyard.

Noah's dragons are here and have completely merged with my dragon flight. I look out and see the people I've known my entire life staring daggers at me. "Dragons of the black sun flight, you have known me since I was a baby. Noah and Emily are secretly working with the dragon hunters" I said aloud hoping they could know the truth. The crowd boos at me. A few even throw bottles and rotten food in my direction.

I never knew my own flight could hate me this much. "I told you, you have no power here" said Noah grinning. He turns his attention back to the crowd. "Zoe, you are here to stand trial for the murder of your, our dragon lord" said Noah. "This is absurd. Why would I kill my own father? I was already in line to take over this flight?" I said to the crowd for them to hear.

"Because you were plotting with our enemy Ryker, the demon dragon lord. It's why you ran away to be with him" said Emily. "Do you deny that you joined his flight as his dragoness?" said Noah. "No but" I tried to say. "Enough, the evidence proves you are the murder" said Emily. Fear strives my core as they pull the chains. I was shaking my head wanting to cower and cry.

"Your public execution will be tonight at sundown. May the dragon gods have mercy on your black soul" said Emily. Then my  inner dragon roars to life as I feel Ryker is near. My breath catches in my throat. Was this real? Was he really here? I search the crowd and find his handsome face staring back at me. As soon as we lock eyes he gives me a wink. Excitement runs through me. Igniting the dragon power within me.

Then he runs toward me with a shout. He punches two guards down and jumps in front of the crowd everyone is left in shock. I never felt more thrilled in my life. He takes off his hoodie showing everyone his face. "This just proves you two have been plotting together all along. It's only fitting we execute you both this evening" growled Noah. The flight cheers as the guards haul me away. He quickly tries to fight towards me.

I pull against the chains as guards try to take me and Ryker down. "Ryker" I called as the copper chains burned against me. "My chained dragon," he says, punching a guard in the face, looking at me with a smile. Happy tears fill my eyes as we try to fight to reach one another. Through the fighting I noticed Ryker is giving them a fighting chance.

He gets captured easily which makes me instantly suspicious. I knew his strength was a hundred times greater than the guards. It would be impossible to lose to him even with the training we had shared. The guards secure us both in the dungeon and then leave.
