What We Had

[Author's notes: The next 4 chapters, including this one, are all flashbacks to when they were together. enjoy.]

Third POV
It was February 11, 2014. Candice had just gotten the call back for a chemistry read with Grant after thinking she bombed the audition.

Candice’s POV
They just called my name to walk in, and I’m extra nervous because the last time I was here, I completely forgot my lines, but hey, maybe they saw something I didn’t. I walk in and immediately lock eyes with this really cute green eyed guy. Man, they were mesmerizing, and then suddenly he put his hand out and said “hi I’m Grant gustin” which knocked me out of my tranz. Did I really just lock eyes with the leading man of the show I think I did? Maybe this won’t be so bad after all.

Grant’s POV
It’s been one long day of going through so many different girls trying to find the perfect Iris and at this point I was ready to call it a day until I saw a girl come in with a pair of ripped black jeans and a bright green blouse. I looked up to see her face, and I instantly knew she was the one for me. I think I got lost in her big brown eyes for a good couple of minutes till one of the producers nudged me to introduce myself so I put my hand out and said “hi I’m Grant Gustin” and she replied with “nice to meet you Grant I’m Candice Patton” even her voice was breathtaking, we start to read lines together and it just comes so easy it felt like I wasn’t even reading a script.

Candice’s POV
After reading one of the producers, tell Grant to stand next to me, and as he walks over, I am just amazed at how tall and handsome he is that I almost don’t hear the producer. P: “Ok Candice the last thing we need from you is for you to make Grant laugh in any way possible can you do that” C: “no problem” I say but that was a lie because I am horrible at being intentionally funny so instead of coming up with a joke like most people would, I do the first thing that comes to mind and I tickle him, yes tickle him I reach out my arms and just go ham to the point I didn’t notice him laying on the floor laughing uncontrollably. At that point I stop and help him up and say sorry with a little bit of a chuckle which he replies with “no need to be sorry I haven't laughed like that all day” he heads back to his seat and we go over a little recon on when they will let me know if I had got the job or not and with that I thank them for the opportunity and walk out hoping I got the role and that I would see Grant again.

Grant’s POV
As soon as she walked out the door I stood up and said “she’s the one we can close auditions because we do not need to see anyone else” and when I say she’s the one I didn’t mean just for the role. The producers all agreed with me and sent everyone home. The next day, the producer started calling girls to let them know they didn’t get the part, which took like 3 days. When they were finally done they begin to call Candice back to let her know she got the part but before they do I ask them if I could be the one to call her, which they agreed to, little do they know I wasn’t just gonna tell her she got the part.

Candice’s POV
It’s been 3 days since my audition and I’m starting to lose hope until I get a call from an unknown number which I am now thankful that I answered C: “hello who is this” G: “ummm hey it’s Grant from the chemistry read a couple days ago this is Candice right” C: “oh hey, yeah this is Candice” G: “great well Candice I was calling to let you know that you got the part” when those words came out of his mouth I almost screamed and threw my phone but I kept it cool C: “wow really, thank you” G: “no need to thank me this was all you” C: “well then I guess that makes us co-stars” G: “I guess so” C: “hey just a question how come one of the producers didn’t call me like they said they would” G: “well because I wanted to tell you, and ask you a question” C: “ask away” G: “would you like to grab coffee with me tomorrow morning? I would really like to get to know the beautiful woman I will get the pleasure of working with” C: “yeah I would loved to get coffee with you” G: “well I guess it’s a date” C: “I guess it is” G: “this is my personal number so I will text you the address, see you tomorrow at 11” C: “see you tomorrow” I hang up the phone and just let out all my emotions “ahhhhhhhhhhhhh” I really just got asked out by Grant Gustin and get to work with him everyday, this is gonna be amazing.
