After school ended Lottie walked over to Eliza. "Eliza, may I speak with you?" Eliza nodded as Lottie continued, "I've been thinking about graduating. I already have a stable job and I'll be working more on my writing. Hopefully for it to get published." Eliza smiled and said, "That's brilliant Lottie. I think you would do great with passing the school certification test." Lottie smiled and said, "When do you think I can take the test?" Eliza looked around and said, "I can give you the test. It's a 2 hour examination but you'll do just fine. You're one of my top students Lottie beside Laura of course." Lottie's smile faltered a little since she and Laura weren't on talking terms but shook it off. "That's amazing Eliza. Say about at the end of the month?" Eliza nodded as Lottie thanked Eliza and walked off to go work at the Mercantile.
Nels asked Lottie to go grab things from Nellie's restaurant when she heard, "Maeve!" She turned to see Almanzo running toward her and said, "Good afternoon Amazon." Almanzo smiled and said, "How's work going?" Lottie smiled and said, "Been great. Mr. Olsen has been a great boss. Asked me to grab some things from the restaurant." Almanzo nodded. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, Amazon. I'm taking the certification test by the end of this month. So I can focus on writing and working at the Mercantile." Almanzo smiled, grabbing her by the waist and twirling her in the air as the couple laughed. "That's amazing Maeve! Eliza hasn't stopped talking about how you're a great student." Lottie smiled then remembered. "Sorry Amazon but I have to grab some things. But I'll see you later." The couple waved bye to each other going back to work.
Dinner came around as Lottie announced that she was gonna graduate. "That's amazing Charlotte." Lottie smiled as she said, "I'm gonna still work at the Mercantile but I'll continue to work on my book." Charles and Caroline nodded when the night came to a screeching halt when Laura also said she was planning to graduate to be a teacher. Charles didn't agree with this when Lottie said, "When was this discussed with Eliza?" Laura looked over at Lottie as well as her parents. "You mean Miss. Wilder." Lottie smiled and said, "Both you said if a grown up gives me permission to call them by their first name I was allowed. Nels and Eliza have given me permission." Charles and Caroline nodded as they continued their dinner.
