A few days after the dinner with Almanzo, Lottie has been on cloud nine. She's been a great help with Nels then all the sudden Almanzo comes running in freaked out. Lottie seemed confused as Almanzo grabbed her hand bringing her somewhere quiet. "Amazon! What are you doin?" Almanzo was looking around when he said, "Mrs. Olsen and Nellie bombarded me trying to have dinner with Nellie." This made Lottie confused and said, "Why?" Almanzo shrugged and said, "I tried to back out of it but I just couldn't. I wanted to tell you immediately." This made Lottie smile and said, "Thank you Almanzo." Almanzo smiled then Lottie said, "You can't be here though. I also have to go back to work." Almanzo nodded and headed out to go do work.
Work was frustrating for Lottie when she decided to have some food. She walked to the local garden to have her food when she saw Almanzo and Nellie running to the kitchen. This made Lottie confused as Almanzo walked out getting onto the carriage and immediately went off. Lottie walked back to her house getting changed for bed as she saw Laura coming back. Lottie was curious as to why Laura was out on a sunday.

Lottie was using the quiet time to write her story with the help of Eliza. Her brother was on the board working on math. Then all the sudden the Ingall's children heard their mom. They all turned around as their mum asked for Laura making Albert and Lottie look at each other. Albert whispered, "Why do you think Ma wanted Laura?" Lottie looked behind her and said, "I think I may know why. Laura was at Nellie's restaurant last night and Almanzo came running out looking like he was sick." Albert's eyes widened and said, "You don't suppose she had anything to do with that?" Lottie shrugged as they went back to work on their school.
That night Lottie was in the loft glancing at Laura when she turned over to her. "WHAT DID YOU DO LAURA ELIZABETH INGALLS!" Laura was shocked hearing her older sister yell at her. "I gave the chicken too much cinnamon to make it spicy. You wouldn't understand." Lottie was confused and said, "What do you mean?" Laura looked up and said, "I love Almanzo, Charlotte." This made Charlotte shocked, then looked down and said, "Oh." Then they heard their parents call for Laura. How was she supposed to tell Laura that she and Almanzo had a romantic moment a few nights ago. She looked down from the loft to hear the conversation but hid to make sure her pa and ma didn't see her.
