The Ingall's family was having a nice dinner laughing and enjoying their time. "You should've seen it, Pa." Albert said as he continued to tell the story. Caroline saw that Charlotte was a tiny bit upset as Caroline said, "Lottie what's the matter sweetheart." Charlotte sighed and said, "Mrs. Olsen has made me the entertainment every weekend there. I know I should be appreciated but she didn't even ask me. Besides, I already volunteer to work at the mercantile during the weekends to pay off the lessons." Caroline and Charles looked at each other and Charles nodded as he said, "Let me talk to Nels to have a talk with Harriet. I'm proud of you Lottie for taking responsibility to pay the lessons off yourself." Lottie smiled

The next morning with her parents permission she decided to help around the house. She saw what time it was and yelled goodbye to her mom as Caroline told her the same. She was walking on the road when she saw a carriage in the distance and it was Almanzo. "Hey Lottie. Lottie, why aren't you at school?" Lottie smiled and said, "Hey, I had permission from my parents to stay and help with the house. So Ma didn't have a lot to do with my baby sister Grace." Almanzo smiled and said, "Well, that's mighty sweet of you Lottie. You are very mature from your classmates. You're gonna graduate soon?" Lottie shrugged and said, "Not sure. I love to learn." Almanzo smiled and said, "Why don't I give you a ride to school. My sister will be more generous since she likes you a lot." Lottie smiled as Almanzo helped her up on the carriage.

"So you have other nicknames?" Lottie smiled and said, "Siren from the town. Speedster from my family." Almanzo smiled and said, "Well, I wanna have a special nickname for you. What's your middle name?" Lottie smiled and said, "Well, my full name is Charlotte Maeve Ingall's." Almanzo was impressed by her name and said, "That's very pretty. But I'm gonna call you Maeve." Charlotte smiled but had a tiny blush as they arrived at school. "Thanks again Manny." Almanzo smiled and trotted off as Charlotte headed into class.

After school the Ingall's children were doing their school work. Charlotte kept looking at her Pa with a sad smile thinking that if she stayed she could've helped. "Want some coffee Ma?" Laura asked as Caroline accepted so Laura got up to make the coffee. "If I stayed longer then I would've been able to do more." Caroline shook her head grabbing her daughter's hand and said, "Your father would've wanted you to be at school." Money has always been a problem with the Ingalls family. Lottie decided it was time to quit music and work at the Mercantile to help with the money. Just gotta make sure her family doesn't see her nor does the Olsen's say anything.
